Excelling in EPC Services for the Generis Technology: Energy Industry Developing Leading Solutions for the Utilities Market
Generis Technology: Developing Leading Solutions for the Utilities Market
Mar19300
Established in 2013, GF Genovate are one of the UK’s most experienced gas to power energy developers specialising in the development of flexible embedded and standby power solutions. Earlier in the year, the company was spotlighted in the 2019 SME 100 programme as the ‘Recognised Experts in Gas & Diesel Generator Installation Services’ in West Yorkshire. We spoke with the firm’s Managing Director and Owner, Alan Dempsey, who offered more insight into their solutions and services. The energy sector is a notoriously difficult market to disrupt, ingrained as it is into large-scale infrastructure, and dominated by a select few industry goliaths. Yet, despite this difficulty, GF Genovate has swiftly made a lasting mark on the energy landscape, becoming – in just six short years- a powerful force for innovation and development in an environment that seems slow and resistant to change in comparison. Tellingly, as Alan explains, Genovate’s company ethos is based around “meeting the needs of our customers”. “We evaluate each project and take a pragmatic engineering approach that meet or exceed our customers’ expectations. Our team are constantly developing and reviewing engineering estimates of energy savings for energy efficiency, renewable energy and demand response measures and programs. We continue to develop and acquire new projects in the UK and have a long-term commitment to the ongoing deployment of low carbon gas to power technologies in the UK.” “Moreover, as new energy sources and technologies emerge, and power becomes decentralised, we’re helping organisations around the UK use the freedom this creates to achieve their objectives. We provide insights, expertise and an effective solution to enable our clients to take control of their energy sources and gain competitive advantage – innovating performance, resilience and UK growth.” In this GF Genovate act like an accelerator, driving the entire industry forwards into the future as Alan discusses in more detail. “In a changing energy

Established in 1995, Generis Technology Limited has provided cost-effective solutions for Britain’s utilities market. On the back of their recognition in the SME Top 100 programme, we spoke with Dave Rice, Sales and Marketing Support Manager for Generis, to find out how they have become one of the leading companies in this highly competitive sphere.
Alan continues, detailing where Genovate has truly distinguished itself from any peers and competitors. “One of the areas we’ve specialised in is generator installation. The latter is of particular note, detailing the company’s significant investment in their internal talent, attributing roughly 2.5 times more than the average UK SME training budget per head. This commitment certainly shows, evident in the expertise of their team and in the standard of their customer service. Then again, this is just par for the course for GF Genovate as they continue to offer their services to an ever-burgeoning client base. As such, the future of the company can be defined by a ‘continuation’ as they look to reinforce their enviable position in the market.

Expert Data Services for Today’s Data-Driven Businesses With offices across the UK, Celerity is a trusted partner for the provision of cloud, managed and traditional IT infrastructure and services. Following the company’s success in the 2019 SME 100 programme as the ‘Recognised Experts in Cloud & Managed IT Services’, we spoke with Celerity’s Craig Aston to find out more. The business world has become defined and controlled by data. Data of all varieties holds the key to long-term success, and companies of all sizes have soon realised the importance of adequately protecting and storing their data. In the wake of this growing need, Celerity has become one of this new industry’s exemplars, delivering top-tier services for their ever-growing client base. As Craig explains, one of Celerity’s unique identifiers is their ability to cater to numerous industries, morphing themselves to the individual needs of their clients. “Celerity can deliver services either on-premise, as a fully-managed off-premise cloud or alternatively as a Hybridcloud. We are currently entrusted with the protection and management of many petabytes of highly sensitive data for a range of global organisations. Our experience covers a broad spectrum of sectors including public sector, utilities, aviation, defence and manufacturing. Ultimately, we have a track record of successfully delivering business solutions as an honest, agile and, moreover, highly experienced technology partner. “Celerity bridges the gap between customer and manufacturer providing access to best of breed services via cloud, managed and traditional routes. We work collaboratively with clients to achieve organisational goals whilst minimising risk, maximising capability and driving innovation. We are a hands-on partner willing to go the ‘extra mile’ for our clients.” This idea of ‘partnership’ really sits at the heart of Celerity’s success, as they act in tandem with their clients to reinforce and secure their future. More than that, Celerity understand that their
clients require tailor-fit solutions, not “one size fits all” services, whilst also understanding that Celerity need to guide and sometimes challenge clients to ensure they are following or moving towards best practice. “Regardless of the challenge or the process, at Celerity we will never try to fit a customer into a template. At the end of the day, we draw upon our extensive experience and knowledge, accumulated by working with clients operating in all industry sectors, to provide value and tailored solutions in line with an organisation’s key business objectives whilst also trying to help clients improve their operations both from a usability, resilience and security point of view.” Naturally, Celerity’s highly-experienced expert team have played a vital role in nurturing their success so far, as Craig discusses in more detail. “We believe it’s the people that makes a business successful and this is very much the case with Celerity. Starting out in 2002 with a small team, we have since developed an experienced and motivated workforce with the right skills and attitude that has driven the business forward to be what it is today. This creates a foundation to give our customers the best service possible and our longstanding relationships with our customers are a testament to that.” As we come to the close of the interview, Craig moves on to discuss the challenges that Celerity, and the greater managed services industry, is facing at the moment. “With the continued pressure on budgets particularly in public sector spending, alongside all organisations being tasked with driving innovation, delivering critical services and managing IT security for their users, the use of trusted partners becomes more vital to deal with budgetary, skills and resource pressures. As a result, given the already crowded managed services area, being able to differentiate yourself
as a value-add partner will become even more vital and Celerity’s heritage in data protection, and trusted partner status to both public and large private sector organisations really does differentiate against others in this area.” In his final comments, Craig offers some insight into Celerity’s plan moving through the rest of 2019 and beyond. Like many of their peers, the company is looking to expand their services further: “We will continue to expand, enhance and unify our managed service offerings around data protection (Data Custodian), monitoring & analytics (Intuition) and cyber security (Citadel).”

Experts in Revitalising Your Brand’s Image Original Nutter Design is an award-winning design firm of experts in designing visually engaging logos and promotional material for businesses. We spoke with Owner, Bo Beaumont to find out more about his company, their work and what the future has in store for the greater design industry. The world has never been more connected and, similarly, it has never been easier to expose your business to the markets that matter the most. After all, the online marketplace is a wonderful thing indeed, but, the question remains – how do you make your company stand out from the masses? To be recognised as different, unusual, and unique? Branding. Good branding can be that crucial differentiator, that small factor that stops a would-be client in their tracks and compels them over your threshold – be it in a very literal way, or not. A strong visual identity has become one of the most powerful tools in a company’s arsenal, so it pays to invest in it. This is where Original Nutter Design comes in, as Bo explains in more detail. “We work with small businesses to develop their visual identity. Typically, that would start with a bespoke logo design, which would then be used as a cornerstone for other designs. We work on all things from traditional print to web and online. As all of our own marketing focuses on logo design, I would argue that it is our specialism -where we excel. That said, as a team, we each have our own focus. For example, Chris would typically work on most logo projects, whereas I would work on web.”
Most of Original Nutter’s clients are start-ups looking to solidify a strong brand message from the beginning – realising early on that it is important to capitalise on every advantage. As a 100% online business, as Bo explains, they have far less overhead when compared to more traditional brick and mortar design houses. “That means we can give the same quality service at more affordable price tags. That is important when working with start-ups as budgets vary, so we try our best to accommodate by offering different levels of service. As we aim to establish long-term client partnerships it is rewarding to see our clients grow over time.” This is especially impressive when you consider that Original Nutter Design is comprised of four people, who all play a vital role in the ongoing development of the business. “I am exclusively the client-facing side of the business. That is, in part, because it’s the easiest way for me to ensure a consistently good client experience, but also because it is so hard to let go! Another positive of that is that Chris and the others can focus entirely on design, which is what they want to do. Plus, as cliché as it is, we’re all essential cogs in a welloiled machine. Everyone plays an important role that contributes the success of a project.” The conversation soon turns to greater developments in the industry. Of particular note is the looming presence of artificial intelligence and automation, who look set to trigger a paradigm shift in the design sector in the not too distant future. Bo takes a moment to emphasise that, he believes, human-created designs will never be matched by computer-generated ones. “Automation is an exciting area across most industries, offering numerous benefits in every day life. Of course, there is that ‘darker side’ represented by worker redundancy. In design, we’re already seeing ‘AI’ generated products. Type in “logo maker” in Google and you’ll see countless examples of automated DIY programmes that will create a logo for you. Granted, they are always shockingly bad,
soulless designs, but, will they be better in ten years? Almost definitely. Will they ever be as creative as a professional trained designer? I find it hard to believe. If anything, I think automation will force businesses in the creative industry to focus on higher-end services which produce better work as a way to compete against a rising tide of lower quality AI driven design. Only time will tell.” Bo comes to the end of the interview with a call to action to small business owners looking to revitalise their visual image for 2019. “There have been some pretty contentious rebrands in the last year: Slack and ASOS to name two prominent ones and LUFC – for any Leeds readers – although that never came to pass after huge fan backlash. We said after each that we’re 100% sure we could do better. So, for the remainder of 2019, we challenge SME News readers that are toying with the idea of updating a tired brand to get in touch. We’ll even give an exclusive discount.”
