I am Ai, a Graphic Designer from Macau. I graduated from Macao Polytechnic Institute in 2015 . I grew up loving drawing and had a great passion for illustration. Also, I like to explore and get involved in new ideas and different cultures from different parts of the world, thus inspiring me to design and create something special for tourism promotion.
Previous Education : BA Art in Design (Graphic Design) Progressing to : MA Illustration
PRESENT I am going to study Illustration MA at University for the Creative Arts, Farnham. I think UCA has comprehensive facilities and wealthy resources for students, provide innovative guidance in illustration, and also encourage students to do more experimental creativity. I like to challenge myself when I get new inspiration I would integrate it into my project.
FUTURE After graduation from University for the Creative Arts, I will follow my own goals and set up my personal illustration studio. My work will aim at the promotion of world tourism, especially of Macau’s history and culture. I want to use my illustration and work to promote more people's interest in the history and culture of Macau, not just in the casinos. I will also use my design expertise to extend and sell some travel publications or picture books, hoping my audience can understand different cultures around the world through illustrations.

PAST
Language : Chinese , English Previous Education : BA Construction management Progressing to : MA Illustration
I am keen on drawing all the time. I like drawing landscapes, animals and portraits. I feel very proud whenever I finish a piece of artwork. However, I had never thought of earning a living through art because I treated it as a hobby in the past. Then I passed the university entrance examination and got admitted at a university, where I studied Construction and Architecture. Although most of the courses were quite boring, they really changed my way of thinking and also helped me improve my drawing skills. One day I contacted a professional illustrator and decided to earn a living by doing art. That is how I became an Illustrator.
PRESENT It is the first time I have left my hometown to more to another country. In the beginning, I felt quite nervous because I had never lived alone before. However,I gained much knowledge and made new friends as time went by, and my anxiety as well as tension disappeared. Compared with China, the pace of life here is slower and the weather is cooler. But the burden of learning is still heavy, meaning that I have to work hard. After this course, I feel that my horizons have broadened and my English level has improved.
FUTURE After I finish this course, I will totally focus on my main course. I would like to gain more knowledge about Art and Design because I am not a professional illustrator and I lack experience. Meanwhile, I also need to practise some basic drawing skills. If I can finish my main course, I may find a job in Japan or go back to China. However, I will continue drawing wherever I am and whatever I do. Art is a part of my life.
PAST When I was a child, I was fascinated by Japanese animation films and comic books. I always liked drawing in my notebook and saved the money to buy comic books. I really wanted to become a manager one day. When I went to university, I learned how to use Photoshop and how to draw digitally. One day, I went to a book shop and found a magazine named ‘Little Thing’. That book was about illustrators, other artists, artworks, sketchbooks and ideas
Present However, when I came to the UK, I was lost, because I realized that there are so many talented people with unique styles. I found this exciting but at the same time I felt confused. So, I tried to use some different material, such as watercolours, pencils, crayons, and propylene, and I actually believe that gradually I am gaining confidence in my skills.

FUTURE I am looking forward to exchanging ideas with my future tutors and classmates from different places. I think I am an emotional person, so I always depict my feelings in my sketchbook and then I perfect them on the computer.I hope I can invent my own style to express both my ideas and ideals. I hope I can be an illustrator whose work can influence others.

PRESENT When I arrived in the UK, every thing was strange to me; strange culture and strange streets, unfa miliar environment without knowing how to adapt to it. On the Airst day in class, I didn’t utter a single word. I was always worried about whether the pronunciation of a words is correct and whether the grammar was used correctly. Fortunately, the tutor is very gentle and patient, telling us to express ourselves considently. Now I have the courage to communicate with my classmates in English. I know how to communicate with other team members and how to com plete a group assignment.
