Design Concept - BIOPHILIA

The general definition of botanic is substance obtained or derived from a plant. There are thousand species of plants that can be found, and can be benefited from. One of its is to provide wellness inside a building and to create an eye soothing view for the hotel guests. In English, biophilia suggests man’s innate biological connection with nature. The form of the building was inspired by taking the natural shapes or form that were created by nature itself through its natural growth.

The layers of rainforest gives out the natural hierarchy shape, creating a simple layered form.

The branches of a tree, when looked from above, creates many branching axis, but only the main branches stood out, which in this case is the 5 axis of the tree branches.

DESIGN PROCESS

Tin Ore

Geometrical shape of tin ore. The geometric shapes are then derived and combined to create a complex design for the roof while not neglecting the hierarchy design principle.

Tin Mining Dredge

The design was heavily inspired by tin mining dredge. The sculpture is meant to appreciate the history of Kampar suitable to our keyword which is rejuvenate Kampar.

DESIGN HIERARCHY

“Hierarchy”

Geometrical form has a different angles thus creating a different feelings.

Applied design principle of hierarchy to portray the steps to achieving as development of Kampar on tin ore that end up till today.

Tin mining dredge shape can be derived to form another complex shape.

Tin ore uneven surface helps inspired new shape for the structure.

INTERNSHIP SELECTED WORKS

Softwares used

Internship period helped me a lot in term of management, working as a team and producing a design that meets the client’s needs. I had involved in several projects during these period and most of them were residential projects such as Rumah Selangorku and Kuala Terengganu Golf Resort (KTGR) Bungalow.

Involved in the early design proposal phase of this project with several others in my team. During this phase, my task were to prepare drawings, 3D model and renderings. This project exposed and trained me to prepare a good design and rendering to stand out from the other competitor’s proposals.

Involved in the early design development phase of this project with several others in my team. I was tasked to prepare and design the facade treatment of this residential building. I was also tasked to study the Green Building Index (GBI) to get this building rated under GBI.
