EGYPT LAUNCHES CHARTER FOR THE RESPONSIBLE USE OF AI
The National Council for Artificial Intelligence (AI) has launched a charter for the responsible use of AI. This AI charter considers these five main principles when developing and implementing AI; human-centered design, transparency, justice, accountability, and security.
Amr Talaat, Minister of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT) affirmed that Egypt is keen to implement its National Strategy for Artificial Intelligence in order to adapt artificial intelligence technologies to serve Egypt across all fields.
The minister also highlighted that the charter was launched to achieve two main goals. The first is to enable citizens to become acquainted with the governing frameworks for the responsible use of artificial intelligence and for all stakeholders to be aware of ethical considerations related to artificial intelligence and to integrate them into their plans.
The second is to highlight Egypt's readiness to follow practices of responsible artificial intelligence in all its aspects attracting investments in this field.
It also aims to improve Egypt’s ranking in indicators measuring the state’s readiness to invest in AI. The charter will also support developers who work in the AI field and are looking to develop or market their products in Egypt.
The MCIT minister added that this document will be reviewed annually to ensure its always up to date for developments in the field of AI.
