Introduction: This document includes the visual elements of our brand and how to correctly and effectively use them. The brand guidelines are designed to help build and protect our brand, and maintain a unified identity.
OVERVIEW About us AIP Foundation is a U.S. 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to preventing road injuries and fatalities in low- and middle-income countries. Since 1999, AIP Foundation has been delivering effective road safety programs in locations across Asia and Africa. Our mission To provide life-saving road safety knowledge and skills to the developing world with the goal of preventing road fatalities and injuries. Our visions A world in which… …there are safer roads, smarter road users, and countries whose road environments serve their developing economies and people. …private corporations, governments, and the public sector collaborate to affect sustainable change in the field of road safety. …individuals are empowered and educated to make intelligent decisions about their safety and security when in a vehicle — as either a driver or a passenger.
Our values Cultural Sensitivity We are culturally sensitive both within our work place and within the places that we work. Community Our contribution to society defines our existence. Accountability We hold ourselves, individually and collectively, accountable for the promises we make. Collaboration We view collaboration, internally and externally, as a key facet of our success. Our name AIP Foundation is our registered organization name. However, the meaning/messaging behind the acronym remains 'Asia Injury Prevention'. For formal/printed use: • AIP Foundation must be used primarily • Do not use: “The Asia Injury Prevention (AIP) Foundation" • Do not use: “The Asia Injury Prevention Foundation (AIP Foundation)” • Do not use: “Asia Injury Prevention Foundation” Other points: • Refrain from only using AIP to refer to the organization, except in internal communications • Do not refer to the organization as AIPF, AI, Asia Injury, or other acronyms internally or externally • For country offices, the translation of the expanded name, “Asia Injury Prevention Foundation” is acceptable to use if this is how we are best known for in that country OVERVIEW

To ensure the logo is clearly visible, surround the logo with clear space—free of type, graphics, and other elements that might cause visual clutter—to maximize the recognition and impact of our identity. To ensure the integrity and legibility of the logo lock-ups, the area directly surrounding them should be protected. When the logo is used, a clear space of 50% of the logo’s height should be maintained. In special circumstances when a 50% clear zone isn’t available or possible, use the second option of 25% clear space.

The Road Safety Tag is the global symbol of the movement to improve safety on the roads and the official symbol for the United Nation’s Decade of Action for Road Safety 2011-2020. By using the tag we demonstrate our support for the Decade of Action, and AIP Foundation’s mission of preventing road fatalities and injuries. Include the tag wherever possible.

When placing the logo onto imagery, ensure that it is placed within an uncluttered image area to allow for maximum legibility and visibility. TYPOGRAPHY Calibri is AIP Foundation’s primary font. It is selected for its ClearType feature (a text designed to be most legible on LCD monitors, screens, and mobile devices). The font is modern, clean, neutral, and can also be used for emails, press releases, printed materials, presentations, web banners, and other collateral. Depending on the design, AvantGarde is the primary font to use for headings. This is also AIP Foundation’s logo font. Arial is our secondary font for body text and headings if AvantGarde or Calibri is not available. Times New Roman is an alternate font for instances where formal collateral is required. E.g. invitations, formal reports, contracts etc.

USE OF IMAGERY The imagery style must fit the purpose of the materials. If we are showcasing our achievements, promoting events, or targeting beneficiaries, choose photos that communicate safety, happiness, optimism, diversity, and activity. In this case, images used must show good road safety behavior and correct helmet use. However, for other branding purposes (e.g. showcasing the challenge we tackle, the ‘real situation’ on the roads), choose photos that are somber and serious. Photos showing bad safety behavior can be powerful and useful, but only when used with purpose and in context. Sample of good photos:
PHOTO MISUSE Below are some samples of incorrect photos:
Overly expressive
Incorrect child position
USE OF IMAGERY
Bad road safety behavior
Incorrect helmet wearing
