DAI-EL™ Equals Quality Plus Performance Fluoroelastomer Expertise Daikin offers the most complete portfolio of Fluoroelastomers products in the world today. From low Mooney materials to high performance peroxide curable products, Daikin FKM technologies are designed to perform in a broad range of demanding service and processing environments. When you choose DAI-EL, you select the highest Fluoroelastomer quality products. And you join our growing family of satisfied customers who benefit from excellent support of new applications development. Daikin is continuously striving to develop newer and better Fluoroelastomer technologies, and provide outstanding technical support for customers worldwide.

New Technologies For bisphenol curatives system DAI-EL G-7000 and G-5000 Fluoroelastomers series are our latest achievement in high performance sealing materials for a wide variety of markets. They are

available in a full range of Mooney viscosities, with ultra fast cures, excellent mold flowability, clean demolding and improved sealing ability compared with conventional and similar Fluoroelastomers viscosity. Daikin developed Iodine cure site monomer technology in the eighties, and continues to improve upon the basic design with new products like DAI-EL G-8000 and G-9000 peroxide series. These injection moldable grades offer excellent mold flow, low compression set, improved fuel resistance, steam, coolants and acids in many harsh environments.

Technical Support Daikin provides extensive technical support in all major markets: automotive, aerospace, chemical and petrochemical industries. Our technical assistance facilities are designed to support the needs of our customers in these dynamic markets.

The Future is Now At Daikin we are not waiting for the future to arrive; we are creating it now by developing new DAI-EL polymer technology. Processors and end users demand ever increasing Fluoroelastomer performance. Daikin marketing, sales, technical service, research and development employees are working closely together to identify, develop and introduce new upgraded products to meet current and emerging customers requirements. In 1998, Daikin established a precompounding facility and R&D Center in The Netherlands called Daikin Chemical Netherlands. In 2004 Daikin opened a new copolymer polymerization facility in Lyon called Daikin Chemical France. The result is a faster and more effective

answer to customer needs for new or modified DAI-EL Fluoroelastomers. Using our proprietary polymerization technology, Daikin is creating a new generation of Fluorinated polymers with improved mold flow and lower compression set for improved sealing ability. This corresponds to our G-7000, G-5000, G-8000 and G-9000 series. Daikin researchers are also developing a fourth generation DAI-EL curing system that will have superior heat and compression set resistance compared to current bisphenol and peroxide curing systems. In summary, DAI-EL Fluoroelastomer technology is constantly evolving in order to help our customers become and remain more competitive in their respective markets.

Safe Handling Compounding agent and facility: common fillers and equipments for commodity rubbers can be used for DAI-EL. Mixing mill needs to be cooled. Finely divided metallic powder or filler, such as Aluminium and Magnesium or Amine compounds of more than 10% should not be used as compounding agents for DAI-EL because such materials are known to decompose vigorously at moderately elevated temperature. Storage and remixing. Store the compounds in a tightly closed package in a cool and dry place. Another milling before use is recommended when the compound is left for more than 3 days. Too tight a nip between the rolls in the mixing mill may cause scorching. Be sure to cool the rolls well whenever the compound is milled with tight nip.

Molding/Curing. The working area should be adequately ventilated at all times because a small amount of toxic gases (e.g HF, acetone, methanol, acetaldehyde, methyl iodine, carbon monoxide) may be evolved during curing. Material handling. A slight amount of Hydrogen Fluoride vapor may be produced during the use at high temperature (above 200° C). The room should be well ventilated. Do not smoke in the working area as harmful vapors may be inhaled when cigarettes are exposed to the powder of DAI-EL. After handling the powder of DAI-EL, knock off any dust from your hair or clothing and wash your face and hands thoroughly before smoking. Disposal. Do not incinerate DAI-EL as this can produce harmful vapors. Disposal should be done in accordance with local laws and regulations. In all cases, please read carefully MSDS before use.
