Pre Summer Camping on the South Fork

The South Fork of the Boise River, somewhere between the Blacks Creek exit and Anderson Dam, is one of my favorite places for a quick getaway.

It was the perfect spot to test out the Datin Fab half rack after being so used to a full height rack. Wow what a difference! I never once felt like I might fall to my death getting in and out of the RTT and I was pleasantly surprised at how little mud and water ended up in the bed even though it was no longer covered by a Softopper.

My husband surprised me with a propane powered pizza oven for this trip. It is so “extra” and it’s things like this that give overlanders a bad name. But OMG camp pizza is delicious!

We were visited by a huge herd of elk and lots of turkey hunters. Didn’t see any actual turkeys though.
