American Airlines is continuing the spread of their #newAmericansocial media agenda and embracing the newest darling of social media, the Twitter-owned 6-second-video sharing appVine.

To enter the competition, participants have to have a Twitter account, download the Vine app and sign up, make a 6-second Vine clip that tells why they deserve to go, post that Vine on Twitter and mention the #newAmericanhashtag before March 7, 2013. The contest is open to those 18 and over living in the US and in the UK.

American Airline’s Vine campaign isn't the first Vine contest from an airline. Virgin America holds the title of first airline to embrace Vine, as their now concluded #VXLongDistanceLove contest asked travelers to submit a Vine and win a romantic trip to Vegas. Besides American and Virgin America, other active airlines on Vine include Cathay Pacific and Delta, with many more airlines having reserved their usernames on the app already.
