Out of Public Eye- Arab Women Fashion The UAE is a Muslim Country, we must be aware at all times of the culture here and what is considered offensive or illegal behaviour. What is perfectly acceptable in our home country may be taken as abusive here. Western people, and in particular foreign tourists have been known to get into serious trouble for not following some of these rules. If anyone here is thinking that the UAE women are backward as they follow the rules of their country, then it’s not so. They dress up really well, but never disrespect their culture or beliefs and hence wear hijabs over whatever they are wearing. Generally at weddings, men and women are split into two separate groups. Thousands of women gather in one ball room- all wearing haute couture because they are not afraid of wearing revealing outfits. Middle Eastern women opt for dresses which uses a lot of crystals, gems, heavily embroidered and embellished fabrics. Some of the ideal clothing that falls under acceptable Abu Dhabi dress codes include Pashminas, which make cover-ups for all sort of circumstances. Boleros, short sleeves jacket is a good option to cover up the shoulder if one is wearing a strappy top. Cardigans also come under this category. Fashion is nevertheless in this state. The Dolce and Gabbana fall/winter 2016-17 collection includes a range of abayas and hijabs in the label’s bright and colourful prints. Its not the first time that a brand is launching hijabs and abayas in the eastern state. Many brands also design Ramadan collections.
