Malaysia's architecture today reflects Asia's many styles, cultures and

religions.

These

influences

include

Hindu-Indian,

Malay-Muslim and Chinese. It is a multi-cultural country with different cultures weaved together, which is one idea to provide a

symbol of localism through design. Since the site is located at a strategic location as tourist area, incorporation of culture can be used to attract tourists and locals and improve guests experience.

{Cultural Amalgamation}

This concept is implemented through choices of culture traditional materials, colour, finishes, forms and motif while at the same time maintaining eco-friendly elements. Since Malaysia traditional culture relates with nature, consideration for environment are also taken to provide sustainable elements.

ISSUES

• Silka Maytower located at 7, Jalan Munshi Abdullah, City Centre, 50100 Kuala Lumpur, Wilayah Persekutuan Kuala Lumpur.

Noise and air pollution from the heavy traffic and nearby restaurants contributes to users’ discomfort. Also, users’ circulation is restricted due to narrow spaces of walkways and small room size resulting in user traffic congestion.

LOBBY Implemented more towards the MalayMuslim motif by using Islamic geometric and arabesque floral patterns.

LOUNGE While progressing towards the dining hall, the materials remain the same but gradually changes forms to mimic characteristics of Chinese furniture forms.

WORKING SPACE Open and private working space and light discussion spaces for guests. Private working space are enclosed inside a small room for privacy. The theme used are influenced from Indian furniture and colour scheme characteristic which uses vibrant colours, wood and curved frame.

STANDARD ROOM Small-sized room which encompasses two single beds, study table, TV set and en-suite bathroom. Uses Indian theme by implementing vibrant colour scheme, headboard design and natural materials.

DELUXE ROOM Medium-sized room which encompasses a single queen bed, study table, TV set, balcony and en-suite bathroom. Uses Chinese theme by implementing its colour scheme, natural materials, motifs and furniture forms.

This project is about designing a faculty gallery for Ahmad Ibrahim Kulliyyah of Law (AIKOL) in International Islamic University

Faculty Gallery Design {Breaking Boundaries}

Malaysia (IIUM). Breaking Boundaries. Breaking Boundaries refers to breaking conventional digital arts interference by bringing interactive features to allow users’ and interactivity. Since AIKOL incorporates heavy elements such as legal cases, jurisdictions and laws, this concept aims to display the heavy and serious information through interactive features. It is to invite users to feel more welcoming interacting and reading the information in the exhibition.

AIKOL HISTORY Displays historical past history of AIKOL. Displayed through ransparent paper pasted on the recessed and relief wall.

The site is located at Ahmad Ibrahim Kulliyyah of Laws (AIKOL), near IIUM library and Kulliyyah of Economics and Management Sciences. Has communal spaces that is near the entrance of the Kulliyyah, courtyard, auditorium and student activity center. STRENGTH Strategi location, PwD friendly and easy acess

• Spans from the adjoining roundabout of Jalan Kuching and ends at the Parliament.

The lack of communication system for user’s wayfinding leads to user’s confusion and results in misdirection. Besides that, poor users’ comfort in terms of facilities provided, seating and circulation which results in poor satisfaction among users.

The aim of designing learning centre is to provide a flexible, practical and conducive environment for users, mainly IIUM community. Dynamic fusion refers to a unity or merging of technology with nature that focusses on creating a flexible

AMPITHEATRE The ampitheathre combines concrete and grass. The concrete are used as stage and also seating area.

OFFICE LOUNGE Ground Floor

Uses LED chandelier, eco-friendly jute carpet and eco wool and organic cotton sofa. Lounge act as a waiting area for guests.

STUDY SPACE Provide private study carrels and open discussion area. The discussion area are equipped with smart whiteboard using a projector and touchscreen.
