Uru has been the epitome of craft and culture in Beypore, Calicut. Unavailability of wood and other economic condition has to lead the decline of this craft culture. The creation process of this majestic structure is considered as a ritual by the workers. A certain lifestyle that should be followed during the process of crafting.
Academic project NIT Calicut
The objective was to design a community center for making , learning, experiencing the tradition of Uru (Large scale wooden boat), which is an indegeonous craft of the community in question.
