As a beginning landscape architect my design process is driven by a desire to create aesthetically pleasing places that build a sense of community. My most cherished memories include spending time with loved ones on nature trails, parks, and in backyards. It was in these spaces that I connected with my family and also grew an appreciation for nature. As I progress in my career, I find my mind drifting to these spaces of memory. I remember the way the light hit the trees, the feeling of mud, and the smell of flowers. These experiences fostered a love of nature that I want to share with others. My designs focus on enhancing the natural aesthetic beauty of the site while also keeping sustainability a priority. Additionally, I hope to create community spaces where community and nature can interact by providing spaced where both natural ecosystems and human interactions thrive. My designs work to capture the elements of nature that I loved as a child, and share them with every individual that enters the space. All photographs were taken in New, Mexico
The Moving Gardens were inspired by Landscape Architect, Guilles Clement. The Bird Rehabilitation Center is set in Santa Fe, New Mexico. All of the plants are native to the area. The garden is able to move naturally through the use of native bird seed that is placed in all of the custom made juniper bird houses. The colors scheme uses colors yellow and orange which represent health and wellness.

Scarlet Square is a fictional plaza set in Athens, GA. The point of the assignment was to design a plaza that would become a destination. I was given a the seedpod, Euonymus oxyphyllus, which served as the inspiration for the organic forms of the pavers and the seating areas. Scarlet Square gave me the opportunity as a designer to gain inspiration from new biological organisms and to experiment with biophilic design.

Piedmont Preserve is a 50 acre plot of land that was recently purchased through the Athens Land Trust for green development and recreational use. The design of this site took place in four different stages over the course of the Fall 2021 semester. When discussing the goals of the site the most important uses for the land will be a cross country course and nature camp facility for children. These desires are worked into the design through the additon of a 200 meter track, running trails, and a natural play area.

Stage 1: Site analysis was conducted after the intial site visit. GIS was used to produce a base map and to analyze areas available for restoration, development, and conservation. Map produced using ArcGIS Pro.
Stage 2: Three conceptual plans were concieved to maximize each of the following uses: conservation, recreation, and education. Later combined elements from each were used to create a master plan for the site.During this process, I returned to Piedmont Preserve to site-check the design.

Growing up in the Deserts of New Mexico, I was heavily inspired by the desert landscape. The hues of the desert and the harsh angles of the plants have heavily incorporated themselves into my design vocabulary. I often use photography to explore the places that I love most. The photos that follow are from Ghost Ranch, New Mexico. The photos have served me as an aesthetic study of the desert and a reminder of the home I left behind.
