in order to spark the dialogue that leads to enlightenment a controversial topic or conspiracy theory must posses some notion of visible merit or credibility. like wise any edifice dedicated to the unbiased revelation of truth and knowledge must be formed from self evident truth. this autonomous veracity is visibly seen in the design of the flat earth library as a direct response to the immediate and peripheral context referencing political factors imposed on the community such as gentrification and more tangible factors such as the vehicular veracity of tejon street. it is a crucial wisdom that things are not always as they appear. critical thinking and examination is always a precursor to enlightenment.

constant within the contextual equation of the site tejons consistent flow of tra c represents the plight of everyday citizens and the uphill battle against the powers that be. erie and 17th are home to a park, and modernbrownstone type homes reflecting the a luence of its constituency and the ease of life their weath provides.
FLAT VS ROUND CONTEXT
while the a luent and powerful impose their will on the every day citizen, those fighting for a voice acquiesce to others in positions of power and influence.
IMPOSITION & ACQUIESCENCE

gentrification is very misleading to the existing community. the residents are often prayed upon by developers posing to present a fair o ers for property. when really the property value is much higher. so unlearned property owners sell for far under market. this process eventually disperses the existing community and fills the pockets and the bellies of the developers and their constituents.
CARESS & DISPERSE
the site emerges at the epicenter of two grids. one diagonal stemming from downtown denver and the other orthogonal from the highland residential community. this represents the intersection of two forces one mainstream and the other against the grain and the struggle between the two to establish order and status quo.
