AJMAL SUHAIMI ARCHITECTURE PORTFOLIO
a dim light at the end of the tunnel wandering with the cruel company of time waiting for death to pass by day by day leaving a print before entering the ground the fear of dream with the glass being half empty from the eyes of the self comparing the self to the world a ship finding its way on the land when the sea was just by the corner unnoticed for being trapped in the deception as the skin getting dryer while the wrinkles being less shy the old is becoming young again hoping for the light of the candle to be blown than be blown itself as the purpose is long served when it was first being lighted.
-the world man-
PERSONAL DESIGN STATEMENT GROWING UP IN BLACK AND WHITE, I HAVE BEEN A LONG ADMIRER ON THE VISIUAL DESIGN OF HOW THE WORLD WORKS AS IT IS VERY BROADLESS AND LIMITLESS YET VERY WELL CALCULATED. THIS HAS BEEN ONE OF THE MAJOR REASONS OF ME PURSUING IN THIS TYPE OF PROFESSION. HAVING EXPERIENCED THREE YEARS OF ARCHITECTURE DEGREE IN TAYLORS UNIVERSITY, TIME MANAGEMENT SKILLS ARE VITAL TO ACHIEVE THE SATISFACTORY LEVEL OF THE DESIGN QUALITY. YOU CAN SAY THAT THE MORE TIME SPENT ON THE DESIGN THE BETTER. DESPITE THAT, IT IS NOT JUST ABOUT DESIGNING AS YOU NEED TO BE BALANCE IN TERMS OF THE ARTISTIC SIDE AND THE LOGIC BEHIND IT. ON TOP OF ALL, YOU GET TO LIVE IN IT AND SEE HOW OTHER PEOPLE EXPERIENCE YOUR MASTERPIECE. YOU CAN SAY WE ARE PLAYING GOD, BUT I THINK FOR THOSE WHO’VE BEEN PRACTISING THIS PROFESSION FOR DECADES, WE ALL CAN AGREE THAT HUMANS CAN NEVER ACHIEVE PERFECTION. BEING BROUGHT UP IN MALAYSIA, I NOTICED THAT WE DON’T REALLY HAVE A DEFINITE ARCHITECTURAL STYLE TO BE PROUD OF, WITH OUR TRADITIONAL ARCHITECTURAL IDENTITY BEING MOSTLY DISCONNECTED WITH THE MODERN LOCAL DESIGNS AND EVEN THE ICONIC FIGURES HERE HAVING IGNORED OUR LOCAL IDENTITY. AS FOR ME CARRYING THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE NEW GENERATION, I WOULD LOVE TO REVIVE OUR ARCHITECTURAL IDENTITY IN THIS COUNTRY AND TO MAKE OUR COUNTRY MORE APPRECIATIVE AND MORE GRATEFUL WITH WHAT WE HAVE.

THE MAIN TARGET IS TO EXPERIENCE A JOURNEY OF NATURE THROUGH THE SITE REVOLVING THE EXISTING BEINGS LIKE THE ORANG ASLI MODEL HOME TO INVOKE THE NATURE WITHIN US WITHOUT INTERRUPTING THE EXISTING STRUCTURES

JOHOR BHARU
SITE VIEWS 1
A CITY ON THE RISE OF DEVELOPMENT, IS ONE OF THE LARGEST CITIES IN MALAYSIA. THEY ARE MOSTLY WELL KNOWN FOR THEIR VARIETY OF FOODS AND CHEAP GOODS. DESPITE THE LARGE LAND, THE TOWN POPULATION IS NOT AS DENSE AS THE OTHERS. HAVING ITS POSITION LOCATED NEAR SINGAPORE, THE CITY OFTEN SUFFERS CONSTANT COMPARISON ESPECIALLY IN TERMS OF DEVELOPMENT. LITTLE EFFORTS WERE GIVEN IN MAINTAINING THE BUILDINGS AND PUBLIC FACILITIES CONSIDERING THE FACT THAT THE GOVENMENT HEADQUARTERS HAD MOVED OUT TO ANOTHER CITY
