The 2018 Undergraduate Roundup will be held October 5-6, 2018 at the Marriott Irvine Spectrum, 7905 Irvine Center Drive, in Irvine, CA. The theme for Undergraduate Roundup is Pinkies and Pearls – In Pursuit of Excellence. The new 2018-2022 International SM Program Exemplifying Excellence Through Sustainable Service is our charge to “Dare to Be Different” while serving with Excellence on your college campus. Undergraduate attendees will enjoy a sisterly relations activity on Friday evening, followed by a day of informative workshops focused on implementation of the five new program targets, the Signature Program - #CAP, membership and sisterly relations. You will also have the opportunity to dialogue with our new Undergraduate Member-at Large, Soror Hollye Weekes about your undergraduate experience. Graduate Advisors and Graduate Advisors Council members will meet on Friday, October 5 from 10:00am – 4:00pm to engage in thought provoking workshops to help meet the demands of your role as Graduate Advisors. Attendance at the Undergraduate roundup is mandatory for all Far Western Region undergraduates. Exceptions may occur on a case-by-case basis. Undergraduates you are the Pinkies and Pearls – In Pursuit of Excellence and we salute you for your hard work. I look forward to seeing you at roundup. It is with great excitement that I welcome you to the 2018 Far Western Region Undergraduate Round-Up! The continued education of how we operate and serve is enhanced when you attend Undergraduate Round-Up. Alpha Kappa Alpha is undoubtedly Exemplifying Excellence Through Sustainable ServiceSM in our various communities. The new 2018-2022 International Program is more than a theme, it is our call to action. It is our call to service. I want to thank you for your leadership and service on your respective college campuses. We are certainly proud of your hard work. Please know that as you walk the path of Alpha Kappa Alpha through your collegiate experience, the outcome of your journey is that you transition to a Graduate chapter to hone your knowledge of our supreme sisterhood. The vision of our founders resides within you, the precious pearls of Alpha Kappa Alpha. This year’s Round-Up proves to be exciting as we will kick-off our Signature Program, #CAPSM which is the abbreviation for College Admissions Process. You will hear more about how we will focus on motivating and assisting young people through the college entry process. Something that is vital to many of your peers across the nation. Under Far Western Regional Director, Soror Carol Dixon’s leadership, you will also connect with fellow Undergraduate and Graduate Advisor Sorors to learn how to implement the outstanding work we will do while Exemplifying Excellence Through Sustainable ServiceSM. We want to solidify our sisterhood’s legacy by hosting impactful programs that will be a benefit to all. Our undergraduate leaders, Second Supreme Anti-Basileus Soror Kasey A. Coleman, and Undergraduate Members-at-Large Sorors Kaylen Long and Hollye Weekes will have the opportunity to interact with you at Round-Up and will share your ideas and feedback with the Directorate. There will also be information provided on opportunities to serve the Sorority at regional and international levels, such as the annual Leadership Fellows Program. August 15, 2018 Greetings Sorors: The lovely and sophisticated ladies of Lambda Sigma Chapter at the University of California, Irvine are pleased to welcome you to Irvine, California and the 2018 Undergraduate Roundup. We are excited to have you as our guests in the heart of Orange County - home to Disneyland and California Adventure, Angels Stadium, UC Irvine and some of the world’s most famous beaches and shopping destinations. We hope your journey to Irvine is safe and uneventful and that you enjoy your stay in Irvine, one of the safest cities in the entire country. The sorors of Lambda Sigma Chapter are excited to host this year’s Undergraduate Roundup with the theme of “Pinkies and Pearls - In Pursuit of Excellence”. Undergraduate Roundup is a two-day meeting geared towards helping us strengthen our sisterhood and accomplish the new targets of the Exemplifying Excellence Through Sustainable ServiceSM program from our newly installed Supreme Basileus Dr. Glenda Glover. This year’s conference will be held on October 5th and 6th at the brandnew Marriott Irvine Spectrum Hotel in Irvine, California, across the street from the Irvine Spectrum, a world class shopping, dining and entertainment venue. Our Fabulous Far Western Regional Director, Soror Carol R. Dixon will be hosting a special meeting just for undergraduates on Friday night, and several dynamic and informative workshops are in store for us. 2018 Undergraduate Roundup Workshop PRESENTERS Soror SHRYL AVRIL Soror Shryl Avril is a Life Member and Silver Star of Eta Gamma Omega chapter in Sacramento, CA. Soror Shryl has been continuously active since her initiation 40 years ago, in Eta Lambda chapter at CSU Sacramento. She has served in various leadership roles from officer positions to committee chairman and holds the distinction of having served as Graduate Advisor on three campuses for over 25 years. Soror Shryl was one of nine sorors chosen to be Graduate Advisor Certified at level III at the Centennial Boule in Washington, DC. She currently serves on multiple committees within Eta Gamma Omega chapter and as the Far Western Region Undergraduate MIP Liaison. Soror Shryl is a legacy in an AKA / A Phi A family, with one of her sisters as her co-initiate. Aside from working in the chapter, she serves as a Planner Director on the Society of Government Meeting Professionals (SGMP) Board, Sacramento chapter, volunteers as Administrative Assistant to Carter Memorial A.M.E. Church, and is active in her own congregation St. Andrews A.M.E. church, where she sings in several choirs and works with the Young People's Division (YPD). Personal time finds her creating all forms of art, enjoying music, especially Jazz, and travel, both domestic and foreign.

Soror ALEXYS HORNSBY Soror Alexsys Hornsby is a senior at the University of California, Berkeley studying Sociology and also serves as the Vice President of Rho chapter. Her involvement within Alpha Kappa Alpha extends beyond the chapter level, she was a 2018 Leadership Fellow and now serves on the International Undergraduate Activities Committee. On the University of Berkeley campus, Alexsys serves her community through the University's Black Recruitment and Retention Center and is currently part of Haas Public Service Leader Scholarship program; all of her work is highly focused on uplifting and empowering communities of color. Outside of her community service, Alexsys enjoys engaging in, and facilitating, discussions about self-care, mindfulness, and self-love because she believes that living a life rooted in love, honesty, and intentionality are integral to a fruitful life. 2018 Undergraduate Roundup Workshop PRESENTERS Soror ingrid johnson Soror Ingrid C. Johnson is a Community Leader, and the Executive Director, President and Co-Founder of the Council of African American Parents (CAAP). This ground- breaking non-profit is an “academic force” driven by determined parents, a supportive community, elite collegiate alliances and corporate partners. Under her direction, CAAP has long been dedicated to enhancing the educational opportunities of students through highly competitive academics, social development and cultural awareness. The result of her efforts over a span of 25 years has culminated in over 4,000 African American students attending institutions-of-higher learning ranging from Princeton and Stanford, to UC Berkeley, Harvard and Yale; Howard, Spelman, Xavier and Hampton Universities respectively. In addition, she serves as CEO and Executive Director of Knowledge is Power College Tours and Co-Chair of the Legacy Roundtable Collaborative (LRC) Summer Mathematics Academy, a mathematics initiative designed to have 500 African American young men complete calculus every academic year. Soror Ingrid received her Bachelor of Arts Degree from the University of California, Irvine in Social Ecology with a Public Planning & Policy emphasis in 1981 and was initiated into Lambda Sigma Chapter at UC Irvine in 1979. On a personal note, Soror Ingrid is the proud mother of three (including one legacy daughter, Soror Raquel Rall, who was initiated into Xi Beta Chapter in 2001) and the doting grandmother of six. It is her grandchildren who serve as her source of inspiration to improve the state’s failing schools. Soror Ingrid has resided in Diamond Bar, California for 30 years.

Soror HALEY JAMES Soror Haley James is a member of Eta Sigma Chapter in San Francisco, CA. She’s a fourth year at the University of San Francisco studying Hospitality Management. In her spare time, she’s involved in her campus’ Black Student Union and is passionate about issues relating to food and environmental justice in the Black and Latino communities. The positions she’s held in Eta Sigma chapter include President and Vice President. She also holds the honor of being a Far Western Region representative for the International Graduate/Undergraduate Task Force committee.

2018 Undergraduate Roundup Workshop PRESENTERS Soror SELENA YOUNG Soror Selena Young serves on the International Graduate/ Undergraduate Task Force Committee. Initiated in Eta Sigma chapter at San Francisco State University, she is an active member of Delta Zeta Omega chapter in San Francisco, CA. Over the years she’s held several positions in Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. including Graduate Advisor, Membership, Standards, Archives & Technology Chairman, Ivy Leaf Reporter and Hodegos. In 2017, she received the Lucille B. Bryant Graduate Advisor Award in recognition of her leadership of Eta Sigma chapter - San Francisco State University and the University of San Francisco. Soror Selena has a B.S. in Marketing and M.A in Adult Education and Organizational Leadership from San Francisco State University.

Soror Audrey J. Owens Soror Audrey J. Owens serves on the International Program Committee. Initiated into Alpha Gamma Chapter at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) in Fall 1993, Soror Audrey is a newly crowned Silver Star serving in her 25th year. She’s an active member of Tau Tau Omega Chapter in Santa Monica, CA where she has held numerous leadership positions including Ivy Leaf Reporter, Audit Committee Chairman, Fine Arts/ Founders’ Day Committee Chairman and is in her third term as the current Graduate Advisor. Honored to receive the 2017 and 2018 Far Western Region Lucille B. Bryant Graduate Advisor Award, Soror Audrey is proud to supervise her beloved and award-winning Alpha Gamma Chapter. Additionally, Soror Audrey is the Twenty Pearls Heritage Foundation President, Tau Tau Omega’s 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. Originally from San Jose, Soror Audrey enjoys spending time with her family and friends, supporting community service activities, and attending theatre and movies.

2018 Undergraduate Roundup Workshop PRESENTERS Soror Keysa rogers Soror Keysa Rogers is a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. Theta Theta Omega Chapter. Soror Keysa has served in various leadership roles. Currently, she is the 2nd Anti Basileus of Theta Theta Omega. Soror Keysa Rogers also serves as Far Western Regional Undergraduate MIP Liaison and on the International Risk Management Committee. Soror Keysa is also a member of the following organizations: The Links Incorporated Las Vegas Chapter, The Society Inc. Las Vegas Chapter (National Treasurer) and a charter member of the Charm’s Incorporated Las Vegas Chapter A native of Shreveport, Louisiana she traveled throughout her childhood living in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and Mayslanding, New Jersey. Soror Keysa is the wife of (Honey-Do) Min. James M. Rogers Jr., 21 years of marriage and the proud mother of three children: (Honey Don’ts) DeZhon 22 years of age (College Student at Grambling State University), DaSani 16 years of age and DeYani 12 years of age.

Soror hollye weekes Hollye J. Weekes is a native of Jackson, MS and is currently a senior at Wiley College in Marshall, TX where she is pursing a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry and minor in Mass Communications. Upon completing this degree she plan on furthering her education by pursuing her Doctoral of Pharmacy. Her ultimate employment is an Independent Medical Film Director with a concentration in Pediatric Education. Hollye was initiated into the Phi Chapter at Wiley College in the Spring of 2016. She has served as president, standards committee, membership, technology, protocol and programs chair. She is a 2017 Leadership Fellow and Northeast Texas Undergraduate Cluster Coordinator. She is the current Undergraduate Member at Large for the 2018-2020 administration.
