Anthony Reed. She is the 31st woman to lead the nation’s first African American sorority for college-educated women.
Dedication
"Let me remind all women that we live longer and better lives when we have sisters we love, not necessarily born in our bloodline or of our race. Sisters."Dr. Maya Angelou
To the Fascinating Far Western Regional Director

”In the Far Western Region, we are steadfast, driven, and Poised to Lead in this remarkable time of transformation and reinvention.”ShelbyD.Boagni
Tribute from Soror Whitney Moore-White:
“Madam Regional Director was one of my first mentors in Alpha Gamma Omega when I transferred from my undergraduate chapter after graduation. She encouraged me to lead and supported me in doing so, professionally and in our beloved sisterhood; reminding me at pivotal moments not to doubt myself and I’m always appreciative of that. Soror Shelby has also demonstrated that innovation and inclusivity can coexist with tradition. She is the right person, that came at the right time and it’s been an honor to witness her leadership. “
“MRD, It has been an amazing honor to be a part of your “Poised to Lead” administration. Thank you for giving me the opportunity to serve the Undergraduates and Sorors of the Fascinating Far Western Region. Continued success on all of your future endeavors within our beloved sorority and beyond.”
Sisterly love, Soror Antoinette Morehead

“We cannot fulfill our founders' bold vision of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Incorporated® without true sisterhood. I strive to lead by example with genuine care and concern for every chapter member. As our Precious Founder Ethel Hedgemon Lyle said, we should be too busy for petty things and too big for smallness. There is work to be done!”

Advocating for Black Women Maternal
Mortality
The Advocate for Social Justice Committee launched a social media reel on Instagram and on Facebook, in November 2023, featuring reels and flyers to bring awareness maternal mortality for Black women. The United States has the highest maternal mortality rates among developed nations. Shockingly, the maternal mortality rate is significantly more elevated for Black women. The data reveals that black women are nearly four times more prone to succumb to preventable pregnancy-related issues. Additionally, they encounter higher instances of maternal complications and infant mortality rates.
Alpha Gamma Omega ChapterAdvocate for Social Justice committee hosted a virtual workshop to explore Midjourney AI and the influence AI can have as we SOAR to the polls. Thank you to our presenter, Soror Katrina CarterJournet! Thank you to all who joined and participated in an engaging discussion.
Don’t Let AI Vote for You: Artificial Intelligence (AI) is a common thing in our everyday lives, from our phone apps to creative design. However, AI can also be used to spread false information in the form of videos, pictures, and voiceovers. Stay vigilant and know the facts before you SOAR to the polls!
Topics covered:
* What is AI?
* How do we interact with AI already in our everyday lives?
* Pros and Cons of AI in the Voting Process
* Examples of AI generated photos and pointers to videos in the media
* Impact to Personal Beliefs
ChildAdvocacy
