Rho Chapter collaborated with Soror Amber Bundy of Alpha Nu Omega to give a workshop on maintaining healthy relationships.
In addition, Rho partnered with ANO to pack school lunches for children through CHIPP packing program.
As an initiative to build our community’s economic wealth, Rho chapter went to Black owned businesses. in the Bay Area and spent $19.08! We encouraged others to join us in this initiative via Instagram. To the left are pictures of Soror Jasmine and Soror Reed supporting a Blackowned resturaunt!
Rho Chapter takes Environmental Justice very seriously! We wanted to raise awareness for Climate Justice, so we held an event (pictured on the top left) to educate our Berkeley community on what they can do to help. Pictured at the top right, and at the bottom is Rho chapter collaborating with Oakland’s Pardee Home Museum to plant trees around the city.
Rho Chapter supported the YWCA with their Register to Vote event! During this event Rho collaborated with the YWCA to give a history lesson on women’s suffrage, and encouraged young women to register to vote for the upcoming election. We want to give a special thank you to
Soror Freda Greene of Alpha Nu Omega for giving Rho chapter the opportunity to empower women!
Rho chapter understands that it is important to uplift our city‘s community as well as our school‘s community. In the month of August, we hosted our “Welcome Back to School“ event where we provided Cal‘s Black students with resources they can utilize during the school year. In addition, Rho also made visits to Castlemont and McClymond‘s high school to represent Alpha Kappa Alpha and give advice to incoming college students.
“Strengthening Our Sisterhood” is a top favorite initiative for many members of Rho Chapter. In the top right picture, we are seen supported the Beta Psi Chapter of Sigma Gamma Rho in their effort to raise donations and school supplies for elementary school children. In the bottom right picture we are having a dinner with the lovely ladies of Alpha Nu Omega, Soror’s Robin Thomas and Tamara Bayne
