The
Alpha Sorority, Inc. was chartered on the campus of Arizona State University on November 28, 1970. Zeta Alpha is class 1 and 12 sorors are part of the chapter as of December 2023.
The Zeta Alpha Chapter hosted a week-long series of events for our Spring ‘23 Skee Week under the theme “Ivy University.” Each event thematically resembled various college class sessions, putting a fun spin on our programs that aligned with the 2022-2026 national initiatives.
Our week began with “REL 312: Sunday School Service,” where we gathered for service at Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church. We then hosted “NLM 313: Girls That Give,” where the ladies of Zeta Alpha collected over 500 canned goods to donate to Pitchfork Pantry. This non-profit directly serves students to combat hunger and food insecurity.
In collaboration with the Mu Eta Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Incorporated®, we hosted “HCR 314: Phirst Klass Mocktail Competition,” raising awareness about the dangers of underage and high-risk drinking alongside low-risk alcohol consumption in the Black community.
“ECON 315: Budget Like A Boss”, provided budgeting workshops for students led by the VP of JPMorgan Chase and a clothing drive for Dress for Success Phoenix.
Delving into ongoing civic issues, our program “AFR 316: Your Voice is a Force” taught students how to advocate for social justice effectively.
Stepping outside the classroom, Zeta Alpha championed Arizona State University’s sustainability promise by planting trees on campus during our “ENV 317: The Giving Tree” program.
Concluding a week of Service to All Mankind, the ladies of Zeta Alpha partnered with our university’s counseling services for a Suicide Prevention Walk during “JUS 318: Sole Survivors out of the Darkness Walk”.
The Zeta Alpha Chapter hosted a week-long series of events for our Fall ‘23 Skee Week under the theme “Women in Pink”. Each event utilized the theme of the film ”Men in Black” putting a fun spin on our programs that aligned with the 2022-2026 national initiatives.
Our week began with “Service and Sisterhood” where we gathered for service at Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church.
Zeta Alpha organized an event titled "Don’t Break the Bank" aiming to engage participants in discussions about maintaining a sound budget during college. The event included interactive money management games and activities, fostering a valuable understanding of financial wellness.
"Heal the World" was a social media campaign that invited the audience to join in on Instagram as Zeta Alpha members showcased their daily efforts to safeguard and contribute to the healing of our planet.
“Fight For What’s Right” was a thought-provoking panel discussion showcasing influential Black women in politics. Together, we delved into community issues, fostering an insightful dialogue on fighting for what's right.
“Protect Our Future” was a collaborative initiative with Kappa Delta Chi, dedicated to volunteering at Arizona Helping Hands. Our mission was to craft and supply essential items for individuals of all ages in foster care, aiming to contribute to a brighter future for those in need.
During "Power Up" Zeta Alpha assembled Childhood Hunger Initiative Packs with the goal of distributing them to children and adolescents facing food insecurity, relying on school meals for their nourishment.
In January 2023, Zeta Alpha successfully hosted the Black Professionals and Leaders Dinner (BPLD), which is the first professional networking opportunity of its kind on Arizona State’s campus. BPLD offered students with lucrative networking opportunities, career advice, free headshots, and other resources for free. The chapter garnered more than $10,000 for community initiatives. The Zeta Alpha Chapter also hosted voter registration events in the spring to ensure students were ready for Election Day and could locate a poll near them.
On Oct 14, Zeta Alpha hosted a day of meditation and service in partnership with Sky Meditation at ASU and wrote Letters of Love for our local elder care facility.
In 2023, Zeta Alpha showcased exemplary leadership through Esete Amare being selected as an Undergraduate Cluster Coordinator for the Intermountain Cluster and as a Leadership Fellow in 2022. Eden Tejeji's recognition as a Leadership Fellow for the year 2023. Zeta Alpha continues to gracefully demonstrate leadership, passion, and charisma.
Zeta Alpha has demonstrated exceptional leadership through its dedicated roles and steadfast commitment to fostering the welfare of both our sorority members and the larger community. Notably, Nnena Okuagu has been acknowledged as an Obama Chesky Voyager Scholar, underscoring her remarkable leadership qualities. Additionally, Jaylene Drummer exemplifies leadership through his multifaceted engagements on campus, including prominent roles within the Black African Coalition, National Pan-Hellenic Council, and Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated, among others.
Zeta Alpha had the opportunity to travel to the Fascinating Far Western Regional Conference. The ladies had an amazing time engaging in fellowship and celebrating our sisterhood. Zeta Alpha also received several awards, including Strengthen our Sisterhood, Enhance our Environment, Advocate for Social Justice, and Empower our Families!
The Zealous and Accomplished Zeta Alpha Chapter was able to welcome new initiates in both Spring ‘23 and Fall ‘23 to a legacy of lifelong love, sisterhood, and service.

Zeta Alpha had the honor of celebrating the graduations of our lovely sisters in Spring ‘23 and Fall ‘23. Our graduates seek diverse career paths post-graduation, including but not limited to fields in law, public health, and education.
