The Grid Forest Group work with Maija Poukka Sustainable Design Studio : KTH : 2016
Situated between the two suburb area in Stockholm, Östberga and Årstafältet, this building is designed as a new center for leisure, sports and culture for the neighbours. Östberga has been regarded as a problematic area while Årstafältet is going to grow in the near future due to the new urban development. This architecture is expected to be a place to create a chemistry between those two different communities. The main concept is “an architecture with diversity”, a platform where people could meet through their interests and interact regardless of their background. For that, the quality of each spaces are more likely to be smaller scale to encourage small conversation to start. Also, it should be adaptable as the interactions grow into some activities. The solution is designing a large grid as a 3D platform, and popping each boxes of function around into that “Grid forest”.

SECTION WEST TO EAST
The site is situated on bedrock slope, which is not suitable for a large-scale land development. We took that characteristic as an advantage and introduce the topography as the vertical zoning. The sequence of the level creates the gradation from the lower to higher, from liveliness to calmness. The main structure of this building is a wooden grid. Since each rooms are independent from the structure it is easier to modify and convert each spaces in time with the needs.

The theme of this project is a temporary architecture which could activate the potential of a site. This site is situated in middle of a residential area, Ă–stberga, which was developed as a part of the Million Programme during 60s. Due to the strong topography this narrow forest had been dismissed and kept as it was planned. I proposed a small observatory for the neighbors as a device to make them rediscover their surroundings. By cropping some specific views in the forest and sky, it works as an amplifier of the beauty in nature. The layered walls work to enphasise the depth of the space - like a tunnel book. Through climbing up the hammock floor, people would get a different perspective, from out of their ordinary life.

Garden House Individual work Bachelor's Design Studio : Hokkaido University : 2013
This house is situated in a dense area close to the city center. It is a residence for a family of three, a parents and their daughter. The main concept is how to get the quality of the nature even the site is very much surrounded by its neighbors. The main facade is set some distance back from the road. In front of the building there is a little garden with several trees. The main intention of the setback is to create a sequence from a public space to a private space. The trees in the garden work to keep the atmosphere of the house calm as a natural barrier. It also gives some shade and water during the summer. The shade of the trees projected into the room could give a sense like living in a small forest.

The goal of this studio was to draw a detail section to 1:20. There was no setting except its function as a library therefore students were supposed to set their own site somewhere in Tokyo. As the site I chose the botanical garden of my university and proposed an outdoor library for the visitors. The design concept is continuity between outdoor and indoor, nature and architecture. The volume of the space is shaped by the surrounding, the old walnut forest. The main material is layered panel of cross laminated timber. It is supposed to create a texture after years and the library would look like as if it were melting into the forest.
Wormhole Crayon Individual work Design competition for unban space using cut-out sticker: 2016
This is a design for a temporary enclosure for a construction site next to Shibuya station. The site is situated close to the busiest area in Tokyo. Everyday commuters pass by this wall heading to their offices and schools in a hurry. The concept is “What if we could have a magic crayon that create a wormhole connecting to another world?�. I proposed this design hoping it would give people a moment to daydream out of their busy life.
