Harvest time is here Sorors! The colors of fall have arrived and pumpkin spice latte is back LOL! For us, we know that this time of year marks our Homecoming, Leadership Retreat, Elections, and the jumpstart of Q4. Yes indeed this is the final stretch for this administration and what a journey it has been. We have kicked off Q4 in grand style with our Chapter Homecoming and Leadership Retreat. Pink Tea Roses to the Membership Committee and Leadership Committee! You all did a fabulous job starting us off in this final leg of the year.
We engaged 6 vivsting Sorors at Homecoming and had a simply amazing time! Our Leadership Retreat truly ignited the leader in each of us and added great value to our growth & development! As we now move into Cluster season, I want to thank our entire Cluster 2025 Steering Committee Sorors, please be sure to sign up for Cluster Committees using the QR code
Kudos and Klaps for several other committees including our Advocate for Social Justice Committee for planning our Ministerial Alliance collaboration, our Enhance Our ENVIRONMENT Committee for the Adopt a Highway Cleanup, and Uplift Our LOCAL COMMUNITY Committee for leading efforts at Tara’s Walk!
Coming up on THIS Saturday at 11:30 am, we will have our 1st Black Business Expo at Chippewa Valley High School located at: 18300 19 Mile Rd. in Chesterfield, MI 48038. This event has been strategically planned by the Build Our Economic Wealth Committee and will be groundbreaking for MACOMB COUNTY, please come and represent.
Calling all Soror Squads! You are welcome to dress down for our October Meeting. In the spirit of voting, we are encouraged to rock the vote while rocking our Chucks & Pearls! Feel free to coordinate as a squad also
Please be reminded that due to voting, our October and November meetings will be closed to visiting Sorors Starting in October until year’s end, our in-person chapter meetings will take place in the New Haven at the Community Center located at 58725 Haven Ridge Rd, New Haven, MI 48048 Due to space contraints, please minimize items that you bring into the meeting space ie large bags, bulky items, etc

WITH GRATITUDE, I HOLD MY LOVED ONES IN THE LIGHT OF GOD.
GRATITUDE IS AN IMPORTANT PART OF MY LIFE, AND FEELING GRATEFUL REMINDS ME HOW THE PRESENCE OF GOD IS ALWAYS WITH AND WITHIN THOSE FOR WHOM I PRAY.
RATHER THAN WORRYING OR FEELING ANXIOUS ABOUT A DIFFICULT OR UNCERTAIN SITUATION, I FOCUS ON BEING GRATEFUL FOR WHAT IS RIGHT AND GOOD.
NOT ONLY DOES THIS KEEP MY MIND OFF OF WHAT MIGHT BE WRONG, GRATITUDE OPENS MY HEART AND MIND, MAKING IT EASIER TO AFFIRM THE HIGHEST AND BEST OUTCOMES IN PRAYER. I BEGIN WITH A PRAYER OF GRATITUDE FOR THE PRESENCE AND POWER OF GOD, FOR THE INHERENT DIVINITY OF THOSE FOR WHOM I PRAY, AND FOR MY FAITH THAT LOVE, PEACE, WHOLENESS, AND PROSPERITY ARE GREATER, TRUER, AND MORE ENDURING THAN ANY APPEARANCES TO THE CONTRARY.
I DO NOT CEASE TO GIVE THANKS FOR YOU AS I REMEMBER YOU IN MY PRAYERS.—EPHESIANS 1:16
WHAT IS THE BEST PIECE OF ADVICE YOU HAVE EVER RECEIVED AS IT RELATES TO YOUR ROLE? AND WHAT ADVICE WOULD YOU GIVE?
THERE ARE SO MANY THINGS I HAVE LEARNED, AND HAD TO LEARN, THAT GIVE ME THE DRIVE AND VISION THAT I HAVE TODAY I AM GRATEFUL TO MY COMMUNITY AND THOSE THAT SUPPORT ME, AS WELL AS THOSE WHO DO NOT SUPPORT ME I HAVE LEARNED TO REFUSE TO BE SMALL ASPIRE TO BE THE STRONGEST PERSON YOU KNOW, AND IF THEY DON’T WANT ME TO SIT AT THEIR TABLE, BUILD MY OWN. MEET PEOPLE WHERE THEY ARE, AND TRY TO MAKE THINGS BETTER THAN WHERE YOU FOUND THEM.
CAN YOU DESCRIBE 3-4 WAYS THAT THE LEGISLATURE IMPACTS THE LIVES OF ORDINARY CITIZENS THAT MIGHT SURPRISE MOST PEOPLE? MANY PEOPLE CONCERN THEMSELVES WITH THE TOP OF THE TICKET IN ELECTIONS, AND LITTLE TO NO ATTENTION TO THEIR LOCAL CANDIDATES. YOUR LOCAL CANDIDATES HAVE A DIRECT ROLE IN YOUR EVERYDAY LIFE MANY OF YOUR SERVICES ARE DECIDED ON THE LOCAL LEVEL
ROADS AND INFRASTRUCTURES
ROADS AND INFRASTRUCTURES HAVE ALWAYS BEEN A FOCUS IN OUR TOWNSHIP NOT FOR POSITIVE REASONS, BECAUSE THE ROADS ARE SO BAD HOWEVER, MANY DON'T UNDERSTAND THAT OUR ROADS ARE THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE COUNTY BUDGETS AND LOCAL TAXATION AS TOWNSHIP LEGISLATORS, WE CONTROL THE LOCAL BUDGET AND DECIDE ON PROPERTY TAX RATES, WHICH DIRECTLY IMPACT HOUSEHOLD FINANCES WE DECIDE ON THE ALLOCATION OF FUNDS FOR PUBLIC SERVICES LIKE SCHOOLS, POLICE, AND FIRE DEPARTMENTS CITIZENS MAY NOT REALIZE THAT THE ALLOCATION OF THESE FUNDS CAN INFLUENCE HOW WELL SERVICES FUNCTION, AND WHETHER TAXES GO UP OR DOWN ZONING AND LAND USE
TOWNSHIP LEGISLATORS DECIDE HOW LAND CAN BE USED, WHICH CAN IMPACT EVERYTHING FROM WHERE BUSINESSES ARE LOCATED TO WHETHER NEW HOUSING DEVELOPMENTS OR PARKS CAN BE BUILT THESE DECISIONS AFFECT PROPERTY VALUES, LOCAL TRAFFIC, AND EVEN THE AVAILABILITY OF PUBLIC SERVICES FOR EXAMPLE, A NEW COMMERCIAL AREA COULD BRING JOBS, BUT ALSO CONGESTION, WHILE RESIDENTIAL ZONING COULD DICTATE THE KIND OF COMMUNITY RESIDENTS LIVE IN
PUBLIC SAFETY REGULATIONS
MANY TOWNSHIP ORDINANCES GOVERN PUBLIC SAFETY IN SURPRISING WAYS FROM FIREWORK RESTRICTIONS TO ORDINANCES ABOUT NOISE, CURFEWS, OR ANIMAL CONTROL, LOCAL LAWS CAN DICTATE HOW RESIDENTS ENGAGE IN EVERYDAY ACTIVITIES A SIMPLE TOWNSHIP LAW ABOUT TREE TRIMMING, FOR EXAMPLE, MIGHT PREVENT POWER OUTAGES BY KEEPING BRANCHES CLEAR OF POWER LINES LASTLY, BUT CERTAINLY NOT LEAST, YOUR VOTE TRULY DOES MAKE A DIFFERENCE IN OUR LOCAL ELECTIONS
