Beatboxing like a champion The Beatboxer takes advantage of the natural proximity effect of a microphone. In the process the bass frequency range can be raised to 10/15dB, which causes the sound to be extremely powerful if the microphone is held very near to the mouth or even pressed to the lips. In order to amplify the high tones appropriately, the mic has to be held very close to the nose to get a crystal clear high hat or cymbal simulation.
