Perspective
The Performer
Sophronia:
The city of multiple layers. Each layer is defined by your perspective and experience. This individual definition helps in understandingt the permanence of each layer.
Multiplicity
Despina:
The different layers of the city come together to form a cultural node. The same space can be perceived and experienced in multiple ways.
Cultural Node
Euphemia:
Built as Performer
A space where people gather and exchange stories. The space itself acts as a performer, a thespian.

A mind centre acts as a cultural node of an area, defined by programmes like workshop areas, a Library and exhibition spaces. I’ve taken it forward as a theoretical approach to understanding “Invisible Cities” by Italo Calvino. An attempt to implement the interpretation of the imaginary cities into the design narrative of the mind centre.
Sophronia “ ...Made up of two half-cities. The first world of carousels, Ferris wheels and spinning cages and the second of schools, factories, slaughter houses made of marble, stone and cement. “ Perspective is defined as the specific we as individuals perceive the temporary and the permanent. This is taken forward in the design as the journey chosen by each individual to form a connect through visual perspective as they move through the design.
A view showing the entrance with UB city in the background.
Despina The land of two faces “ Each city receives its form from the desert it opposes.” The mind centre takes from this principal to forms a cultural node along with the art gallery and the technological museum in the heart of the desserts of the city. It is formed by the scholars and the elitists on one side and the commoners on the other.
The view as we approach the mind centre, cultural node from the Venkatappa Art Gallery
Extended facade to emphasise perspective from outside and within.
Euphemia “… at night, by the fires all around the market, seated on sacks and barrels, the men exchange stories of treasures, lovers and battles..” The city, where memory is traded at every solstice and 5
Above shown is an axonometric view of the design as seen when driven past. The axonometric view indicates the Built as the Performer
The centre is located on Kasturba Road, Bangalore. It forms the node in between the British Council Library, the Vishweshwaray Technological Museum , The Venkatapa Art gallery and the Government Museum. The context , rich in cultural heritage, provides a back bone to take forward the idea of the Mind Centre performing as a Cultural Node. The diagrams below show the process followed in the design.

AROMA
Campus for Hospitality and Hotel Management.
Extention of the Food Strret in Koramanagala into the campus along the Spine.
The core of the service and the hospitality sector is extremely reliant on the attitude and the decorum instilled in the students when they enter this course.
8
The above diagram shows the comparison between A hotel is associated with a sense of Plushness and Grandeur. This is achieved through Materiality and Scale a business hotel and a Resort. The stark difference in the context affects the behaviour of the built.
THE CONCEPT This campus looks into the process of how students from various classes of society come together for the four year course . During these four years, they obtain a sense of decorum, a formal attitude and learn how to serve the customers. The work done by the Service Sector is highly underrated . The Design hence reinforces the sense of Uniformity and Formality expected out of the students through their period of formulation. This has been achieved by using the walls as a guiding element. An element that constantly remind the users f the importance of the hospitality in the community.
Proposing the use of a sytem of walls as a constant reminder to the students of the importance of the Hospitality sector. The walls used are a sytem of shear walls .

THE PROCESS The Site is located in Koramangala , Bangalore. Nestled with Jyoti Nivas college on one side and The St. Johns Hospital Campus on the other, the five acre campus strives to create an environment of its own. The campus is brotadly divided into the Acadamic Block, th Hostel Block and the cafe’s and restaurants that line the extended street. As the sight is slightly sloped, I have taken advantage of this slope to form a teletubbied landscape along the street to serve as an extended seating area. The car park is nestled within this landscape feature. As you move through the street, an empasis is laid on the walls that frame the street and constantly reinforce the idea of uniformity and hospitaly as it continues into the acadamic block. 10

MAND
Interior Design for an Accessory Boutique.
Conceptual sketches showing the initial ideas of the grid development in the pods.
THE CONCEPT
POD 2
In this Studio, each individual was given an already existing shell with two pods, a 6x6 m pod and a 9x4 m Pod. Each pod was to be detailed out for a brand designed by the individual. Mand, is the brand I created to sell accessories that have been derived from a native, tribal origin. The brand questions the very use of accessories in the present world and what they actually represent to the world.

The following diagrams showcase the pod and show that the elements taken forward in the design include a grid and a sytemof moving walls that can help tu further curate the space for a display show. The 6x6 m pod is taken as the display and the 9x4 m pod is taken as the pod to work and design in, with a small vault as a storage room for th jewels. 12

POD 1 This pod serves as the Display space. The Display unit used are a sytem of movable walls, along a track system. Each unit contains a series of wooden blocks in an MS Grid to serve as a an extended display and an interactive wall. The movement of these blocks represent that user itself is the mannequin. Evolving from this idea, these walls can completely open up to emphasis the ramp walk leading from one pod to the other. The ceiling mimicks the track system on the ground to produce a striped lighting affect along the ground highlighting each display unit on its own. 14
POD 2 This pod functions as an extended work area for the design and the repair of the accessories. The highlight of this area is the vault in the middle which acts as the crown jewel. The pod derives its dynamism from the logo of the Brand. The cornered off area represents the office sppace and the open stepped space indicates the work are for design and repair of the accessories. A make shift trial room is created below the vault area . A ramp or stepped up walkway originates from this space.

NARRATORIUM
Cultural Centre in present Shrungar Complex Site.
THE PROGRAM The design originates from a study of the evolution of public spaces in Bangalore. The map shown above diagram and highlights the evolution of Bangalore from the Fort, to the pettae, the growth of the cantonement and the public space of cubbon park in between A narratorium is a literary centre . it houses a library, an archival centre and a resource centre. It also forms a centre for curated spaces such aas a gallery, a museum and exhibition spaces. Additional public functions include workshop spaces, coworking office spaces
18
THE PROCESS The immediate context of the site to the right includes the Barton Centre. To provide for a an open space in the heart of the city, I’ve retained open space along the entire ground condition, creating a folded plane landscape along which people can move from MG Road to Church Street. The first few floors have the closest relation with the street and hence, the contain the curated spaces and blends with the street to allow for a free flow of pedestrians. The central core has then been exaggerated wIth the co-working spaces forming plug ins as they move up. The library , resource centre and the archival space sits on top of this core mimicking the grandeur of a fort. 19

Entrance conditon from MG Road
Entrance condition from Church Street
The views depicts the narratorium as a place for people to gather and experience the curated spaces of the galleries, the museums, and the exhibition spaces as they move along the folded planes. The site serves as an experential thoroughfare for the pedestrians as they move from Church Street to MG road. The co working spaces that act as plug ins to the core in the second view help in highlihting the view of the surrounding regions from within. As an exterior notion, these start forming the plug-ins of an overarching watch tower.
The internal street created as part of the thoroughfare.
