THE SINGER
Coming from a gospel background, coupled with classical piano training, Akia’s talent was nurtured at the early age of seven. Her classical/operatic to jazz vocal training has granted her the ability to perform for diverse audiences and genres throughout the Nation and Internationally. From being featured at The Jacksonville Jazz Fest, American Beach Jazz Concert Series, Las Olas Jazz Fest in Ft. Lauderdale, FL., with the gospel jazz group, NOIZ, at the international launch of Davines Hair and Beauty Company in Parma, Italy to opening for Earth Wind & Fire along with C1 Jazz at the 2009 Black Expo Opening Concert in Jacksonville, Florida, she has humbly wowwed crowds with her melodic, sultry voice that ranges from first soprano to tenor. Akia performed the National Anthem for the 2016 season opening JAX JAGS GAME 2016. She sings at a variety of music events in the styles of Jazz, Soul, R&B, Gospel and Classical. In the Southeastern region of the USA, Akia performs regularly for festivals, several weddings, corporate events, private aairs and fundraisers for various charity events.

As model, she has accomplished many goals from winning 2001 International Model of the Year with Black Sophisticate’s Magazine and Linden Day Publishing to owning MOSAIC MTM, a Multicultural Modeling & Talent Management Agency.

Akia Uwanda, a Singer, Actress, TV/Music Producer and Internet Radio Host from Jacksonville, Florida wears several hats in the Entertainment Industry. She recently played the role of Adda Perle-Good Witch of the North in The Wiz, Shug Avery in The Color Purple stage play produced by Stage Aurora and Darlene "Church Lady" at The Alhambra's production of the play. Akia starred as the lead character in the original musical/ dramatic play entitled Majigeen, as Anta, written and produced by Jennifer Chase. Other lead roles include, but not limited to, Velma in Crowns and Lorrell in Dreamgirls at the Alhambra Dinner Theatre in Jacksonville, Florida. Akia explored her creative side as a Co-Producer and Co-Host of the hit Reality TV Show, Jacksonville’s Next Top Model which set the stage to Co-Produce and Co-Host on the NDUSTRY Radio Show currently on THE NEN (THE NDUSTRY ENTERTAINMENT NETWORK).

THE HUMANITARIAN Akia has Volunteered for the last 6 years every 1st Friday @ Clara’s Cafe for The Clara White Mission, a 501 c (3) organization that feeds about 600 homeless people a day, provide transitional housing and programs such as Culinary, Janitorial and Maintenance. She served on the Cystic Fibrosis planning committee board for Fashion for a Cure and The Jacksonville Tailgate Kickoff for a Cure, served as an Organizer and Logistics Chair for New York’s SENSATIONNEL Hair Show and competition in Jacksonville, Florida, Served as an Ambassador at The NFL Commissioners Party during Superbowl XXXIX in Jacksonville, FL and is the founder of The Akia Uwanda Project, a charitable organization whose mission is to spark hope in the lives of youth ages 6-18 through Art Education, Development and Awareness. Her expertise in Creative Visualization of Beauty Brands, Special Event Planning and Promotions for individuals, companies and other brands speaks volume.
