House Matryoshka Competition works Type : House Location : No site 04.2017-05.2017
- From small difference to big difference, vibration of spatial dimensions The width, the length, and the height of each room are different little by little(300mm) from those of adjacent rooms. Probably, if residents move to next room, they can not recognize the big difference. The small difference become the big difference while moving, perhaps before you notice it. Between the smallest room and the biggest room, there is a difference of 4.5 times the airspace. The opening of each room is different according to the position of furniture, how to take in light, and so on. As a result, there is no same room as one. Nonetheless, residents can not clearly grasp the difference of the "dimension" of space among the small differences. This is a proposal for a house that there is no beginning or end, the depth is ambiguous, "spatial dimension" continues to fluctuate.

Matryoshka
I propose a house like the Matryoshka. It can be split up and down at the body part of the doll, with a little doll inside. This situation repeats several times, and it is a nested structure that dolls come out of the doll again.

Correlating windmill
At a summer festival, we often meet a scene that the windmills are turning in both directions and overlap. By making the plan like that the windmills correlate, the flow lines and the lines of sight of residents are organically and freely connected.
autopoiesis
A unity realized through a closed organization of production processes such that the same organization of processes is generated through the interaction of their own omponents, and a topological boundary emerges as a result of the same constitutive processes. In chemistry, a hypercycle can shows an abstract model of process of autopoiesis system. Hypercycle Manfred Eigen
“Difference and repetition”
“Difference and repetition” Gilles Deleuze
How much different between 2200 mm and 2500 mm? How much different between 4000 mm and 4300 mm? What is the difference between “300 mm between 2200 mm and 2500 mm” and “300 mm between 4000 mm and 4300 mm” ? Even if there is the same room in width, length and height, the opening, skylight and furniture are different. Such a room repeats itself. When the difference of the "dimension" of the space becomes ambiguous, the "dimension" of the space can not be grasped for the residents and it keeps fluctuating.
Depth and time
Distance concept of <far - Close> in depth has the same meaning as the passage of time. I try to use this optical effect in this house with permanent divergence of differences and eccentricization.

I make this physical model for 2nd phase of urban development and architecture competition. In our office, there is only one internship person at that time. So I tried to make planning firstly and make this model for 2month with doing model study. I understand that we should show a gradation of landscape in physical model. So I try to make landscape part carefully, taking care of texture.

- Regenerating Danchi This is important topic in Japan because population of Japan will decrease and this tendency can be seen in the suburbs and local area specially. So demand of living in danchi will drastically decrease. This is one of the proposal of the way to overcome this problem in the future. Firstly, I design moving dining tables and dock of these mobile devices. These moving dining tables play various roles in cooking and eating like kitchen and dining tables, carrying harvests like agricultural carriers and moving around like “yatai”(stands) or “dashi ”which is a kind of float when the festival is held. Dock is base of movin dining tables and agricultural community. There are kitchen, so residents can cook here. And I propose the way to use vacant shop in the shopping street. This is revival paln of scenery of former farm in this area, revitalizing meal activity; eating, cooking and cultivating.

South side of Danchi
Generally, danchi have low building height, 4 or 5 stories height. In addtion, there is large interval between two danchis. Then south side of danchi have enough sunshine. So we propose that this vacant land will be changed to farmland. Firstly, we analyze the ratio of D/H( Distance between two danchis/Height of danchi) to confirm sunshine at this area. Secondly, I can judge that there is enough sun-shine and deside the location of farmland at each danchis. Basically, residents of danchi manage farmland in front of their danchi.
I design moving dining tables as mobile device to make meal activity. And then, dock of moving dining tables will be built at Nagayama and Suwa shopping street. These moving dining tables are usually in dock and can be used as the place of talking and chating. In harvest season, these moving dining tables play important role as agricultural carrier. In addition, when festival is held in autumn, these moving dining tables are used as stands or dashis which is a kind of float with a variety of colorful decorations in festival parades.

Firstly, I do field research and find that this shopping street is place for relaxation and refreshment for residents. Then I decide to make the center of meal activity. I make three volume which extend from center to three direction because of triangular site shape. And three volume have different height due to program and I make situation the correlation of three volume because I want to make ambiguous boundaries in the center of this dock. Thus this dock can obtain transparency of view, human flow and environmental factors and one united space. In addition, there are three square between volumes, which are also designed due to environmental factors and human flow. In particular, square in front of arcade is located between dock and NPO office. It is expected that in this square Marche will be held on weekend. Moreover, this area will become the center of harvest festival as I say later.

I design dock of moving dining tables and shop of Agricultural cooperative using vacant shop ,the same as Nagayama shopping street. L-shape roof connects dock of moving dining tables and shop of Agricultural cooperative, so user can feel connection between these two buildings. Then behaivors of residents are successive, bringing harvests from danchi farmland to shop of Agricultural cooperative, buying these harvests at this shop and finally cooking and eating at the dock. In addition, because of site level L-shape roof is used as roof, table or chair. Using moving dining tables, we can make cycle of meal activities. This is important for run-down shopping street to revitalize in the future.

・Network of moving dining tables In the future, because of depopulation in the suburbs danchis will be dismantled, repaired and reconstructed. However, as long as residents continue to live there, meal activity will not be lost. I propose long term plan that dock of moving dining tables will be salted in Tama newtown over time. The project site of these docks is assumed near the shopping street and vacant stores will be also used. ・Use urban structure In Tama newtown each blocks is connected by bridge which is upper level than roadway.

Tokyo Palazzo Master 1st Year Studio Type : Palazzo Location : Aoyama, Tokyo, Japan 10.2014-11.2014 member : Jelmer Buurma(TU delft) Yueqiu Wang(ETH) Fu Yibo(Tongi) Prize: 1st prize at works of Tokyo institute of technology

- Design from typology “Palazzo”
“Palazzo” is one of the generic typology of urban dwelling which appeared in Europe. The palazzo is pleasing element to build cities, with its good scale, symmetrical facede, and appropriate volume. And generic, conceptual space is most interesting about Palazzo. Palazzo is kind of artifact that belongs to the city due to social demand, the existence of client and flexibility of space. It is something in between private houses and skyscrapers. I think that this is unique because it comes from another kind of idea, distinguishing itself from programmatic idea from commercial architecture. This is proposal of new type of design process to overcome capitalistic architecture.

Exterior perspective
- Concept The concept of the project is to continue the urban fabric of "wall" and maintain the contrast of the two sides of the site by designing a palazzo with two very different sides, reacting respectively to the different urban situations. The different functions and spaces are organised around a central void. Facing the Aoyama Dori are mainly offices and other public functions, while facing the Danchi area are mainly apartments with a private terrace for each.

- sandbox in Tohoku This is one of the project of ”Our house”. “Our house” project has been held by Toyo Ito to make community in the quake-hit area of Tohoku earthquake. Project site is located in Minamisoma where there are victims of Tohoku earthquake and Fukushima nuclear power plant. I take part in this project in the basic design phase and execution design phase. In this project, I could have excellent opportunity for widening perception of public space. In addition, I have been interested in the mecanism of making and managing public space. This building is made by private and after completion this will be given from private to public. Our project team started to design with the image of Circus tent. In minamisoma, we want to make symbolic public space as the center of community in local.

Prize: good piece of work
- From city hall to library
In the local area in Japan, there are serious situation that local government can not maintain the public facilities because of the decrease of the shortage in tax revenue. So architects have to think how to regenerate public facilities. This projects is one of the proposal to this problem. We were asked to change an exited city hall to library and historical museum. We want to design “Commons” between library and historical museum to make space like alley at openspace. Then both inseide and outside of “Commons” are space like gallery.

All bookshelves have four or five steps to be low and make reading rooms no oppression. In addition, we add more two entrance, North and South. This is because of car and bus access and approach of residents. And finally, back space like office is located on the North side of this building functionally.

There are many chairs around the void. Bookshelves are located in the North side of first floor, which is sunny space and commands a fine view to Fukuchi-yama. On the other hand, the South side of first floor is used as historical museum whose wall of South side will be closed. Both library and historical museum have glass boundary at void side, which is used as sign and guidance. West multi-purpose hall which was the chamber before can store abput 200 people. Above the courtyard, we try to transform to deck terrace.

- Possibility of huge plan in the urban area
This is a dioloma project. I had diceded to work on the subject how to design new type of public space. At first, I researched land use of some big cities in the world including Shinjuku, Shibuya, Ikebukuro. In this research, I realized that there is less open space at Tokyo than that of otehr big cities in the world. So I began to think how to make openspace in the Tokyo which have high density and complex urban structure. Then I focused on the station in the urban. In the future, as Tokyo is expected to become more densely populated, stations will be more important core of living. However, the station redevelopment projects in urban area is mainly building skyscrapers recently. If skyscrapers are built, a floor area ratio can be gained, but skyscrapers definitely confront human at skyscrapers’ feet. Therefore, I tryed to do the casestudy of new type of public space at Shinjuku station. I could keep height of building down because I used the above platform to make up for the loss of floor area ratio.
From srrounding area of this station, we can not recognize platform of shinjuku JR station because east and west building which are along the track stand like wall against to city. So there is a urban void space above station track.
48years old
Plan is extended to over the track which is urban void now. Two rectangular solid which are face up to station east and west plaza will correlate each other. This is new type proposal of redevelopment that building can get floor area enough and also can reduce the hight of buildings as now buildings.

There is an urban void in the center of huge plan. This urban void is shaped by three grids which are east and west grids and station grids.

- huge space to gather 1000 people In this project, I think about behavior of human which is called gathering. I analyzed the relationship between gather type and space size, using real reference of building. Then I decided to make two type of gathering space; same perpose and multi-purpose. same purpose gathering space is Hall and multi-purpose gathering space is Plaza. So I design one big horizontal roof which can cover two type of gathering space make various space.
In addition, structure is important for this project because I have to make big space to gather 1000 people. I use string beam structure and suspension structure to put 20m span into practice. Besides I try to honor Tokyotower and use three‐cornered grid to harmonize triangular truss of Tokyotow「同目的で集まる」 er. I want this building to harmonize with the Tokyotower. So I use triangular grid which is from 練習室 triangular truss of Tokyotower. In this project, I add the new factor to landmark of Tokyo with respect. In fact, Tokyo tower finished to play important role of radio tower because Tokyo sky 「多目的に集まる」 tree was built. So This project is one of the proposal of using property of city.
