Chapter 01
Beauty is More Than Skin Deep
6
Beauty is More Than Skin Deep Your skin is one of the first things others see when they look at you. Caring for your skin is one of the many ways you can put your best foot forward. There is a misconception that skin care is vain. Skin care is self-care. It is another way to nourish this gift of a physical body. But it is much more than that. When you feel better about yourself, you make better choices. When you make better choices, you have healthier relationships. Healthy relationships make happier communities. Happy communities make our world better. It’s as simple as that. Skin care can begin the ripple of health that changes the world. Skin care is more than just what you put on your skin- it has many layers. I will share a few of these here with you today. Let’s get started, shall we?

Chapter 02
Ingredients That Dim Your Glow
Not All Ingredients Are Created Equal Here’s what you need to know about the ingredients in your skin care. The more you know, the more proactive you can be about cleaning up your skin care products. Remember, your choices not only affect you and those you love, but also everyone on our planet. Every time you wash your face these products go into our water supply and affect our whole world.
Phenoxyethanol- Phenoxyethanol is often considered a “natural” preservative. This preservative is a known potential allergen, a skin irritant, and limits your cell’s ability to heal. Its effects are increased when combined with ethylhexylglycerin. Ethylhexylglycerin- Yhis preservative impairs the outer layer of your cell’s ability to heal and rejuvenate. Its negative effects are increased when blended with phenoxyethanol. PEG- PEG ingredients are derived from petroleum and often contaminated with neurotoxins. A healthy nervous system is essential for healthy skin. EDTA- EDTA, in all its many forms, is often made from formaldehyde. Formaldehyde is toxic to your nervous system and reproductive system.
8
HIDDEN HORMONE Disruptors Plastic packaging
This won’t be listed on the ingredients list, but if the product is stored in plastic, even if it’s BPA free, the product will still be contaminated with plastic absorbed from the container. Plastics interrupt your hormone function and are therefore an endocrine disruptor.
Parabens
Parabens are typically derived from petroleum. Parabens, in all their many forms, are also considered an endocrine disruptor and throw your hormones out of balance.
Fragrance/Parfum
This ingredient is often carried by plastics. Plastic is what gives longevity to fragrance and is widely known as a hormone disruptor and contaminants the water supply worldwide.

Chapter 03
Love Your Lymph With Dry Skin Brushing
Your skin is one of your major organs of elimination. The lymph system acts like your garbage collection service removing waste, and is supported by dry skin brushing.
Benefits of Skin Brushing •
Removal of dead skin
•
Opens skin pores
•
Skin brushing invigorates lymphatic drainage and support detoxification
•
Supports your cardiovascular system
•
Exfoliates dead skin cells
•
Enhances the tone and suppleness of aging skin
•
Reduces the appearance of cellulite
10
HOW TO BRUSH YOUR BODY The best skin brushes are natural bristle brushes. Skin brushing is best done on dry skin, before bed or your shower or bath. Brushing should be gentle and done in short strokes.
1
Start by brushing on the soles of your feet. Brush in small strokes from your toes towards the center of your body. This follows the direction of venous and lymph flow toward your heart. When finished, your skin will tingle and might be a little red, but do not brush so hard that your skin is bright red.
2
Next, brush lightly up your buttocks, stomach and lower back.
3
Brush from your fingers to your shoulders in short strokes toward the center of your body.
4
When brushing your breasts, brush outward from the nipple like spokes of a wheel.
5
Finally, lightly brush your shoulders and upper back toward your armpits.
6
Do not brush your face, as this skin is very delicate. However, you can lightly brush down the back of your neck.
Areas that should be avoided
Open wounds, rashes, weeping rashes, your face, areas of skin that are easily damaged, and areas of known skin malignancies or lymphatic malignancies.

Chapter 05
Tools to Glow
Have you ever washed your face and within moments of drying off you can feel your skin tightening? This is your skin drying out. This is what happens when you wash with soap or anything that strips your natural oils from your skin. This over drying makes you more prone to rashes, infection, acne, and wrinkles! Soap over strips the natural oils on your skin causing a rebound of inflammation and production of more oil. The solution may sound counter intuitive. The solution is to clean your skin with oil. Not just any oil, but just the right mixture of nutrient density, antioxidant rich, absorbable, organic oils. Look for ingredients like these:
SUNFLOWER OIL Helps to reduce inflammation and redness, soothe and moisturize.
14
JOJOBA OIL locks in moisture and balances good bacteria.
ROSEHIP OIL’S good fats reduce scars and wrinkles, and acts as a multi-vitamin full of antioxidants and good fats.
EVENING PRIMROSE OIL helps to reduce acne, rashes and other inflammatory skin reactions.
To use them simply massage into dry skin and gently wipe off with a warm wet clothe. Then follow with a super clean serum.
15
Super-Nutrients to Feed Your Skin
Serums are a comprehensive approach to anti-aging and boosting hydration. Adding a facial serum may first feel intimidating when you see the larger price tag. But after considering all the benefits, from banishing blemishes, smoothing wrinkles, increasing hydration, you may just change your mind. Serums have a high concentration of active ingredients and a little goes a long way. The best serums are packed with antioxidants, antiinflammatories, college builders, and hydration boosters. Top of the line serums contain no fillers and have only high active naturally derived ingredients. Regular use of a serum regularly can give your skin a firmer, smoother texture, reduce pore size, and increase moisture levels. Serums are not built to moisturize alone, but work best when sealed in with a moisturizer or cream.
16
Look for ingredients like these:
ALOE VERA helps your skin heal faster and soothes irritations.
BAMBOO helps to firm and strengthen your skin. It is packed with antioxidants that reduce fine lines and wrinkles.
PEPTIDES are pieces of protein that when blended with other antioxidants and nutrient dense herbs deliver targeted benefits such as boosting collagen production and elasticity to skin.
Best results come from using a serum twice daily after cleansing. Warm a pea-sized amount of serum between your fingers and gently press into your skin from forehead to chest.
