AKSHATA VISPUTE 01

I recently completed my education as masters in furniture and interior design from Unitedworld Institute of Design, Ahmedabad. I have worked as an intern for shantanu garg design in jaipur spanning a period of six months. My ideal career would be to work in residential or commercial design at a firm where I can gain experience, meet new people, inspire others, and push myself beyond what I think I’m capable of. Interior Design is more than a job, it is the creation of a sensory experience. It is form and function. Design is complex, but if done right looks effortless. I am a true believer that if you love what you do, you never work a day in your life.

Residential Design Furniture Design Stupa Lamps inspired from Temple Pinnacle achieved in blown glass and metal.

THIS PROJECT HAS BEEN DESIGNED BY SHANTANU GARG DESIGN FOR A PENTHOUSE IN MUMBAI. THIS IS A BESPOKE LIVING ROOM COMPOSED FROM THE ENLIGHTENED BUDDHIST MONASTERIES. IT RENDERS THE SPIRITUAL ELEGANCE TO THE SPACE BY BRINGING VISUAL PERFORMANCE OF ALL THE BESPOKE ELEMENTS AT CENTRE STAGE.

Modern Console fused Tibetan Prayer Box inspired legs.

The seating in the terrace (above) is a micro architecture that takes inspiration from Buddist Monastery. The Dining Table (below) combines with the Bar Counter to produce dynamic usage of space. The table here is customised with legs inspired from Tibetan Prayer wheel in brass and blue semi precious stone. However the black and white accents neutralises the impact of colour in space.

Loose Furniture Design Centre Table

This furniture design studio focused on designing a piece of furniture for a Bridal boutique taking an inspiration from any one of the historic eras. I chose the Persian Islamic style as my inspiration to design a centre table for my boutique store. I decided to particularly explore the persian calligraphic script to design the form.

21

Concept Development Characteristics of the style: Luxury, Royal and Divine features. Use of eleborate designs, geometric patterns, study of proportions, symmetry and balance. Materials used for the style: Metal, Glass, Mosaics, Teak and Ebony, Ivory and Pearl inlays.

This furniture design studio focused on designing a piece of furniture for the hypothetical co-working space that we designed in the semester two. Introduction to new materials like corian and techniques like laser cutting created an interesting approach to design. The inspiration for this book shelf is Geometry.

Nature And Form Exhibition Kiosk

This project is inspired from the aquatic creature, jellyfish, which are soft bodied, free swimming aquatic animals which range from 1mm to 2m in size. The main intention of this project was to understand the design process and understand how a form can be derieved from the inspirations. I have designed an Exhibition Kiosk especially for a cosmetic brand that wants to launch a new product and has put that single product on display.

25

Attribute - Fragile

Attribute - Free Flowing Attributes of Jellyfish

Inspiration - Jellyfish Attribute - Expansion Contraction

Form Exploration

Jellyfish has an interesting set of attributes which include camouflage, adaptibility, illuminous body and many more out of which i chose free flowing, fragility and the ability to expand and contract for form exploration.

Concept Sketches

The prototype has been made in scale with thermacol and strings of thread taking the attributes of jellyfish into consideration.

Accessory Design Lighting Element

This project was a part of furniture design studio in semester two. The main intention of this project was to understand and explore various types of wooden joineries and designing a lighting element with the help of these joineries. Working in the workshop with wood and machines gave us a first hand exposure to understanding industrial design.

This is a collaborative project made with a group of four people. The intention of this project was to understand the physical properties of cardboard and designing a piece of furniture. The concept we came up with was to create a coffee table out of an entire sheet of cardboard, experimenting with surface development technique, rather than cutting the cardboard in pieces and then joining them.
