BASIC SCIENCES RESEARCH BUILDING FOR AIIMS MASTERPLAN NEW DELHI, INDIA

PROJECT INFO: The Basic Sciences Research Building is located in the Academic Neighborhood of the AIIMS (All India Institute of Medical Sciences) Masterplan. This building has a rectangular ground floor, consisting of teaching labs. The upper floors have “L” shape, which are planned as layers of laboratories, laboratory support and office spaces. Cutting through the middle of the building is the central spine, that creates a mix of circulation zones, linking different programs visually and physically.

RESPONSIBILITIES: + Concept massing and diagrams + Area and zoning analysis as per applicable codes + 3D Modeling of building in Revit and Rhino + Elevation design and studies + Technical drawings and documentation + Graphical work for client presentations + Visualizations and renderings

PROJECT INFO: Situated at the heart of the Virginia Tech Carilion Campus, This building is designed to facilitate collaborative discovery with experiential learning environments and laboratories organized around interactive research themes. This research institute brings together, under one roof, researchers and clinicians, undergraduate, graduate and medical students, and human and veterinary clinical subjects developing scientific advances that address human and animal health and disease. HISTORICAL CHIMNEY RESTORATION AT GREENFIELD PRESERVATION AREA BOTETOURT COUNTY , VIRGINIA , USA

PROJECT INFO: The Greenfield Preservation Area is a 38-acre area within the Botetourt Center at Greenfield business/ industrial park. This site includes the Greenfield Manor House, Slave Quarters and Kitchen which was formerly owned by Colonel William Preston, and is recognized by Virginia Landmarks Register and the National Register of Historic Places. This particular project focused on restoration of the chimney of the historic kitchen which was constructed in 1845 under the direction of William Radford. RESPONSIBILITIES: + Draw full design Package for client submission + Study historical resources for chimney restoration + Study design guidelines and applicable building codes + Site photography to document existing conditions + Develop 3d model in Revit + Design documentation + Graphical work for client presentations

A preliminary and visionary masterplan particularly focused on the groupings of buildings and their orientation and organization relative to public spaces which incorporates Sustainability, Inclusivity and Transparency. This project involved a series of massing studies and sketches to capture a holistic, integrated design focused on creating sustainable, human-scaled places where people can live healthy and happy lives within Roanoke.

SPACE FOR THE SENSES UNDERGRADUATE THESIS 2019 NEW YORK CITY, USA

PROJECT INFO: This thesis seeks to understand, explore, and question the relationship between the human senses, body, and the built environment. A meditation center is proposed to be situated inside one city block of West Village neighborhood in Manhattan. Through a series of multiple progressive paths that lead into the open site, momentary pauses, and time for reflection, the program becomes a catalyst for sensory mediation and escape the busy city life.

THE JOURNEY BEGINNING, The journey begins when walking down the street, the line of trees moving into the site invite you into the city block. As one gets closer, the built is further revealed by the openness of the site which gives it relief from the taller neighboring buildings. MOVEMENT, The concrete pod which holds the planted trees help break up different paths and direct movement of people in and around the site. The line of foliage provides a natural visual and acoustic relief which strengthens as one goes deeper into the site. PAUSE, The concrete tree planters allow for unique opportunities to pause, rest and reflect on yourself and the surroundings within the site. THRESHOLD, The main entrance passage allows light into the space via long slits in the wall. The slits directly align with the mass of the tree outside which establishes a rhythmic view and progression. A similar rhythmic experience is created by lines of grass between the stone paving which makes the walking experience softer.

FOCUS, Siting position allows direct line of sight to the foliage of the tree which becomes a focal point for meditation, allowing various shadow animations into the room throughout the day and different seasons 36


WHOLE, The meditation space on the lower floor is intended to hold classes for bigger groups. Depending on the size of the class, the partitions allow to divide space as required.

PARAMETRIC DESIGN BUILD VIRGINIA TECH VIRGINIA, USA

PROJECT INFO: Utilizing a mix of sophisticated CNC and Manual joinery, 2x4 and 2x8 lumber was used to create a parametric design-build based on 3D modeling and grasshopper script. I played an integral role in leading a team of 20 students and managing the logistics for realizing this project over a month long planning and execution. Delivered a well planned and high-quality design within project schedule and only 45% budget utilization.
