This project proposal is about designing an Architecture school of the Future. This school is all about experiential learning with a perfect balance between work, collaboration and leisure. It’s a student-centric and self-building environment that helps build an accelerated path to the real world. The site is located on a high contour, close to the SCAD Digital Media Center in midtown of Atlanta. The site being narrow and having a restriction in height, demanded that the lower levels of the building have rotation and shifting of modules. These modules formed transitions at varying levels between outer and inner spaces resulting in public, semi-public and private spaces for students. In addition to the three pillars – work, collaboration and leisure, open studios and mobile furniture helps to extend out the formal teaching labs into informal learning zones. These are intended to encourage interaction between students across all years and promote interdisciplinary learnings. The intent was to build a home away from home for architecture students since these students often spend 2/3rd of their valuable time at the school and need to have a perfect work | life balance.

SITE PLAN
The building comprises of five floors with projections of thinking pods and sleeping pods, and recreational spaces on every floor. The first floor is open for public and students which consists of a dramatic exhibition space that could be leveraged by students to display their work, cafeterias for meet-greet, workshop spaces for trainings and spaces for administration. The second, third and fourth floors are highly adaptable to the needs of architecture students with Augmented and Virtual Reality rooms within open studios for enhancing learnings. The fifth floor is dedicated for traditional and digital libraries.
ENTRANCE VIEW FROM DIGITAL MEDIA CENTER SCAD
Studio spaces are at the core of the architecture curriculum. An average architecture student spends 20 hours every week at studios, hence it is of utmost importance to ensure the design meets the needs and comfort of these students. Each studio has residential desks that are often assigned to the students and opens into a private terrace garden. The studio also has AR & VR platform that allows students to experiment, design and share a virtual experience. Additionally, there are longer communal desks for discussions, meetings or group work that tend to make the studios even more interactive resulting in better creativity and participation in the studio environment. SECONDARY ENTRANCE FROM DIGITAL MEDIA CENTER SCAD
Sleeping pods, Thinking pods and other leisure spaces connected to every floor create right balance of work life balance, especially when students work all night at school.
Open to sky within spaces creates broad and collaborative learning culture.

The winters are harsh in Guelph, Canada where temperatures can plunge far below zero making it unfavorable to grow fresh vegetables throughout the year. By incorporating Indoor Vertical Farming, farmers of Guelph share the same common goal of producing more food on less or no land in a more controlled environment, all in one single location that is closer to the consumers. Due to harsh weather conditions, foods are often shipped from long distances. These are usually plucked and frozen even before they are ripe resulting in, they being flavorless and less nutritious. Additionally, the food is often supplied by a distributor that is not only expensive but also doesn’t benefit local farmers.
The building slope is oriented towards south
With the idea of vertical farming, people of Guelph will start eating more fresh and healthier food. This also supports the local economy of Guelph as it bypasses the middle-man from the market. Most importantly, the idea of farmers market will bring the community together generating a renewed interest in eco-friendly, healthier and simpler lifestyle.

PV PANEL WITH ANGLED DOUBLE GLASSED FACADE
The residential units have PV panels with angled double glass facade that keeps the sun’s radiant heat from penetrating through the glass and into the building’s envelope. These panels intercept the heat outside the building and provide an effective shading.

VERTICAL FARMING
FOLD ABLE LOUVER’S
SOLAR MOVABLE FIN FACADE
The fold-able louvers help bring a distinct look for the market while providing shade and comfort for the people inside. In summers, it provides shading from high sun angles, these reduce the glare and outward heat, while leaving the view unhindered for the people. In winters, it insulates the market from the cold wind and snow.
The solar fins facade installed for vertical farming are movable and can change position based on the sun’s position. The fins would be in their maximum open position from sunrise to early afternoon. From early-afternoon to mid-afternoon, the fins rotate clockwise and post mid-afternoon they rotate counter clockwise and return to their open position at sunset.

GEOTHERMAL ENERGY

FARM TO TABLE
The arrangement of multiple solar panels used as external facade allows it to generate required electricity for the market. Additionally, this electricity is also used by the geothermal heat pumps, to transmit the liquid above and below the ground. Since most of the solar panels are installed on the South-east facade of the building, they generate electricity during the winter and summer months.
Known for its blistering winters, and very limited sunlight especially during the Winter months, the horizontal loop geothermal system that is installed under the ground will keep the market warm and help maintain an optimum temperature range for indoor farming.
Rainwater harvesting systems installed help the water table for the development of the crops. The rainwater is purified and stored in storage tanks and is pumped to the farms. The soft rainwater doesn’t impact the health of the crops negatively. Additionally, it also helps to keep the operational costs down as it limits the deposition of calcium carbonates in pipes and tanks.
In combination with the Rainwater harvesting system, the geothermal and solar systems accentuates natural growth of the plants. The crops once ripe, can be harvested, cleaned and packaged and stored withinCleaning/ the market. These are then sold to the Processing Residential residents of Guelph supporting the ideology of farm to table.

RESHAPING SACRED LANDSCAPE MAHARASHTRA | KOLHAPUR | INDIA
Reshaping sacred landscape for Hindus in India to ease the stages of grief by creating spatial experience during Funeral Ceremony The relationship that humans have with death is ever changing and ever evolving. It is difficult for architecture to change the attitude towards death and the departed. However, architecture can help form a delicate horizon between the living and the departed to create an experience that amplifies the principle of
“Celebration of Birth - Life - Death” Kolhapur or the Kolhapur Maratha Kingdom was the princely Maratha city during the British Raj. Located at the southwestern part of the state of Maharashtra on the banks of river Panchganga this city is well-known as Dakshin (South) Kashi. After cremation, Hindus often travel up north to the banks of Ganga to immerse the ashes. The people who cannot travel to Ganga, travel to Kolhapur to release the ashes at Panchganga. This gives Kolhapur a significant importance in the Hindu Tradition. na jaayate’ mriyate’ vaa kadaachin naayam bhuthva bhavithaa na bhooyah: / ajo nithyah saasvato’yam puraano na hanyate’ hanyamaane’ sareere’ – Bhagvad Gita The spirit is neither born nor does it ever die. Architectural Elements A traditional jali brick wall helps to create series of calming and contemplative spaces giving privacy, light, ventilation and sense of openness to the cremation center. The play of light and show within the space along with fresh air provides comfort to the mourners and appeals to their emotions and instills calmness. Additionally, since most of the rituals are performed barefoot, the basalt stone helps to keeps the floor cool and comfortable enough for one to walk on. The use of local, natural granite allows to show the connection to the Hindu tradition. The luxurious, everlasting materials used are beyond time and mortality depicting strength and constant in a life of change.
Śavadāha | Crematorium Block The landscape enters into a dialogue with human interventions in the form of footpaths, exterior spaces and architecture. The integral theme of this design is the “Journey Of Oneself” It is here where one attains the final stage of moksha, reaching a state of karmic perfection and is released from the cycle of life. It is more than a building, it is a site that accompanies one on their journey. As if walking through an exhibition, going from one experience to another reiterating the fact that death is a natural, unavoidable consequence of the continuity of life.
Smartika Marg | Traditional Path Hindus perform “Abhisegam (holy bath) wherein the body is washed with a mixture of milk, yogurt, ghee and honey. Once washed, the body is placed facing northwards in a praying position. The path between the abhisegam and antiyesti, the eldest son (karta) and three other relatives carry the body as the last procession. Here the body is placed on the wooden pyre, with the karta circling the body three times, walking counter clockwise so that the body stays on his left, and sprinkling the holy water on the pyre.
Path Of Light This showcases the last processional path for the mourners and the departed. The flow of this path is vital to guide mourners in the most sensitive way possible giving the families the privacy and intimacy during this difficult time. Divided into three phases, this allows the families to conduct last rituals and carry the departed to the traditional pyre and cremate the departed.
Antimatram Dwar | Beyond the Wall Antimatram Dwar creates a journey for the families to walk through the narrow passage into an experience that allows them to reflect on memories of the departed. The mantras on the wall, and the light from the opening symbolically represent the essence of larger than death. On the lower level, the water is used to reflect the light inward and display a symbolic gesture of farewell. On exiting the tower of silence, the path leads one to a surreal space to the river to conduct the last rite of immersing the ashes back to the earth or beyond where they belong. As the person walks through this enclosed space with all his overlaid emotions conjure up a whole new meaning to this space in his mind as he questions reality.
Tower Of Silence The tower of silence helps create an insular, isolated experience for the mourner as they descend a series of circular stairs. The controlled sunlight through the circular opening above gives hope to the griever to reflect on life beyond the deceased creating a sense of acceptance. Engraved on the walls, the Shlokas from Bhagvad Gita reinforce a tone of solemnity.
Sagraha | Gathering Space Sagraha, the gathering space is a sacred space to honor the departed and to end mourning. This block has its own sense of privacy from the crematorium that is divided by a thin layer of a living urn. On the 13th day (Terahvi), the family and relatives reminiscence the departed. Existing temples allow relatives to offer the departed’s favorite food to God and the priests. These temples create a traditional layout of the sacred space with the concept of stepped well leading to the river.
Living Urn| Tree Of Life With The Living Urn, Life Continues... This space is for the loved ones to reminiscence the departed. Families and relatives can plant an urn, which is solely dedicated to the departed soul. It honors the loved ones who have given us joy, happiness, companionship and memories. The urn is the smallest dwelling that a person can occupy and that lives here. The urn comes in a structure and the families can place the ashes of their loved ones in the capsule. The urn can then be placed in the ground and with proper mulch, water and care the seedling will grow into a plant. This plant gives the loved ones a purpose and makes them to keep visiting this space to witness the rebirth of their loved one.

Spoons is an emerging Acai bowl food truck that has encouraged healthy food options for Charlotte. With their current growth they plan to expand into brick and mortar at three prime locations. Liquid design aims to design a meaningful experience for their customers by creating a brand for Spoons which eventually has a possibility to grow into a food chain. As part of the schematic design phase I have been working on creating design options for all three locations that are of different sizes, with kitchen equipments as per as clients requirement and adhering to local codes. Additionally I have been participating in regular client meetings to discus our progress

As an Architectural Summer Intern, I had the opportunity to intern at Gresham Smith, Richmond Virginia in the Aviation Division. During my tenure there, I worked on two international airport projects. I developed a 3D Revit Model for existing and proposed buildings by referring legacy documents, photos, on-site documents and maps. This model will be used as a reference document at the firm. I also had the opportunity to collaborate with Project Architects to plan and communicate project timelines and budgets to add new jet bridges for the airport. Additionally, I had the opportunity to design construction drawings for an extension of the rental parking lot.

The brief was to design interiors for a plastic and cosmetic surgery clinic for an area of 1700 sq. ft. The design requirements were to create a welcoming atmosphere. The waiting room extends the feeling of trust and comfort for the patients. This created a very strong connection between the patients, the doctor and the environment. The alternative abstract floral patterns on the ceiling and the wall look harmonious, that creates a design style that’s minimalist yet conventional. As a Project Architect, I led the project from concept design to execution. I gathered the client requirements, finalized on the design layouts and reproduced them in 3D in consideration of building codes for the clinic. Once the design was finalized, I planned the designed phases for the project. Additionally, I coordinated with site engineers and external vendors to ensure the design was executed according to the drawings. With regular communication and site visits, I was able to deliver this project within the anticipated deadline.

The brief was to design a bungalow to accommodate 2 families of different generations to easily live side by side, without invading each other’s space. The site is a corner plot with a given area of 4000 sq. ft. The idea was to design a house by combining the two generations in one single module, by adding a mixture of two languages that is contemporary and traditional in style and providing comfortable living areas for both the families. The building has a distinctive element by expressing in form and design. The aesthetic sense is emphasized with the combination of natural stone, wood, glass and concrete that brings out uniformity and cohesiveness. To bring in more natural light in the house, huge windows with minimal interiors are incorporated.
