Site Elevation The complexity of the site gives a challenge to the designer according to the context and encourages to plan accordingly. While creating a micro-environment for the residents not bothered by the outer activities. The project demands all modern amenities but should serve to both residential as well as commercial activities.

This project provides a loop as journey to experience the culture and flavour of bhopal. The planning divides te residential part with public part and the central cascading open space is a reflection of the cascading lakes the city is famous for. The grandeur of the entrance atrium reflects the lifestyle of the people of Bhopal. The play of levels is inspired by the the actual landscape of the city . The lakeside was left undisturbed for people to experience the truth of the site as visitors love the site at its present condition.

This was an activity originally done under the subject of landscape design which later converted into this manner. “TURN TO LEARN” was an activity to find the a route which is not used much but has some interesting history/ characteristics related to it. In this activity a route inside the old city known as MAHAL is taken which goes through the winding narrow ‘GULLIES’ and tells a story about the past .To compare with today’s world a fictional character of a boy travels through these alleys and compares the current scenario with the one his grandfather tells about the past. In another section we interviewed the people living there or who are acquainted to this part of city about the experience of the changing urban landscape.

u r b a nI n s e r t I o n

u r b a nI n s e r t I o n This previous activity was extended towards a product design activity where we provide a modular solution to the temporary shops which will help the sellers to have a more durable shop/ shed with all the character and exibility of their current shops at the market place known as gol bazar. in this activity we analysed the needs of the shopkeepers here and the proposed a design which is economic and appropriate and also which can withstand the composite climate of the city and also the rough use of the sellers . The design was proposed to be shrinkable upto some extent as the sellers took in and out the product daily and the shop was not needed in the night to be used as store.
