This super-sized countryside atypical home located on the hills of KodaiKanal is an elegant household catering to the quintessential needs of a typical family vacation. The ornate scale of its living room demonstrates a classic concoction of nature and architecture. To be fair, this house was designed for a client with speciď€ c, contemporary and ambitious requirements. It offers wide and open vistas over the valley and the horizon. The dramatic landscaping views offered by each of the spaces evidently expressed a thoughtful design and attention to site context. The design earns itself a noteworthy mention due to its simplicity in graduer, remarkable panoramas and successful indoor/outdoor integration.

The Reception area was designed keeping in mind P&G Global Standards and achieving the same with our local context. The Cafeteria was taken up right from the Start with designing Service Routes, Employees Movement patterns and seating areas. The Cafeteria was further designed in a manner that it would be used as a meeting place so as to increase the workability in non dining time zones.

Over the years, it can be seen that there is a steep rise in the number of women arrested for crime in Maharashtra. Also Maharashtra tops the list in the number of women arrested among all other states. Looking at the growing number of female inmates in the country and the lacking quality infrastructure and services to the inmates the site and the project aims to be proposed in Maharashtra. As statistics show that MMR is the Urban Crime head of Maharashtra when women inmates are concerned. The site is thus aimed to be proposed in the region of MMR.

Architecture has a vast impact on the personality of a person. We design spaces to reconstruct the personality and not to destroy it. The spaces we design create a sense of security, emotion and bonding inside a person and thus makes an impact on his actions and mentality of the person. Introduction of a courthouse inside such facility even cuts down the time taken to move undertrials to and from court and thus which reduces the expense as well as security of the inmates. Introduction of reform programs such as bamboo mat weaving, bamboo basket making, handicrafts, art, music and dance therapy, yoga and meditation, computer training skills, fashion designing, farming, waste decomposition, etc. would help them to be self-reliant once they come out of such facilities no matter what they have faced outside. By doing so the facility acts on the basic principle to bring people back to the society the ones that have parted away or gone against. Introduction of a store, exhibition space to display and sell articles produced by the inmates inside the facility. This helps in showing to the society that the people inside are just the same as people outside and they do deserve to get back into the society and the facility plays an active role in doing so.
View From Health Block
Introduction of a museum space which depicts and represents the motive behind this facility and why do we need such facilities in the prison system and by incorporation of which what difference can be brought to the way people look at prisons and the entire prison system in India.

TINY HOUSE 2017
The approach to this ‘tiny house’ was inspired by a modular micro - housing system. This system does not only support the idea of compact housing but also allows for exibility in design based on different site specications and requirements. The ‘tiny house’ is split in three different parts : Ÿ Ÿ Ÿ
bedroom / living / study kitchen / dining washroom
These three self sustaining parts can be arranged in multiple ways to provide an optimum output to the site. It can also be arranged to create interesting double height and duplex spaces. The structure is proposed to be that of a metal framework with bre cement board panels on either side. These panels sandwich an insulation to provide as a better conductor. The interior has wooden panelling so as to aesthetically enhance the houses. The modular furniture allows for smart housing where the living room converts to a bedroom by night and the kitchen and dining coexist in a compact but extremely functional space. The washroom is the only space that follows the norms of architecture.
BLOCK PLANS
DENCITY
Industrial Development in cities generate job opportunities for people.
people from villages start moving to cities
2017
Developing Cities generates alternate income options to people
The Design Philosophy adapts the basic design principles, coupled with cost effective materials and technology proper planning rules to create a radical change in the way these settlements are being build. The design revolves around a set of rules and building patterns to achieve an incremental way of housing. The structure grows with the settlement and adapts to all its needs and functions. The idea of owning a 9sqm module as a costfree structure and to convert it to a 18sqm module by paying the cost enables the consumer to grow his or her own house. The passage ways that connect the modules to the ground are connected through a staircase that opens up to form a courtyard naturally lit from the top. The terraces have been converted to green roofs to achieve cooler temperatures inside as well as work as rainwater collectors. The solar panels placed on some of the terraces reduces the electricity consumption. Community sanitation blocks are zoned at every oor level. The Design manages to achieve a 75% green footprint with areas for kids and elders to be used as parks and playgrounds. The open terraces and voids at various levels are used for functions such as workshops, household chores, community gatherings, etc. The Design thus Portrays a cost-effective solution and method to cope up with the ever increasing population migration in developing urban cities through make shift homes yet maintaining the quality index of life.
further more people start moving to these cities in search of better livelihood
due to high rising prices for livelihood people start living in cramped up spaces
they create spaces from whatever material is locally available to them, thus these spaces do not have a uniform facade
thus, life goes on, where the poor struggles all his life to come out of poverty & the city keeps catering to the have’s of the town
no proper open to sky spaces, public areas, social life of people degraded
QUALITY OF LIFE INDEX The Quality of Life in an Urbanscape is Determined by the Following Factors:
Existing Conditions: Proposed Design:
Basic Access to Clean Drinking Water
Proper Cross Ventilation Throughout the Space
Supply of Electricity to Each & Every Home
Proper Sanitation Facilities from every block
Proper Daylight in Units to Reduce Electricity Consumption
Access to Emergency Services - Police
Access to Emergency Services -Fire Tender
Access to Emergency Services -Ambulance
