PLY ANGLE COIL GROW SS14-FLORIBUNDA LUCID
The focus lies in sculptural shapes while banning cuts. Often an interdiction will translate into a more fluid design. We are surrounded by shapes, colors, numbers and we can distinguish patterns everywhere. Geometry is at the basis of everything surrounding us so for now we will stick to the simplicity of the sacred forms and let them guide us.
Ply
By using just origami technique of repetitive folding in guided directions, 3 plain pieces of fabric transform gradually into a structured dress. "The signs are everywhere. You just have to know how to see them" - Constantin Brâncuși, romanian sculptor.
angle The aim is to purify the process, going back to the intrinsic design of things. Playing is, among other actions, essential to the nature of humans. As an intrinsically motivated activity it leads to pleasure but also development of the mind. We start by playing with simple shapes and forms, tangle them around the body, mimic a garment. After a time, play comes up with a resolution, aesthetically appealing and different depending on the angle you wish to see it from.
coil
grow
While we evolve as humans we gradually return to simplicity and therefore nature. To contemplate this reverse evolution we take a look into biomimicry to see how nature resolves and shapes itself. The focus is on one of nature’s most skilled practices: Growth — taking place everywhere it has a hospitable environment, in a chaotic yet structured way, waste-less. The chosen plant is Hypnum moss, a primitive plant, one of the first to colonize the Earth, volatile and versatile. Our bodies become pristine again, hopeful, involved in a symbiotic process.
Floribunda The immortality of the bloom.
We've been ageing since day one of creation. Yet most of our existence we bloom. The designs from this collection are a reminder of nature's beauty and the resemblance between women and flowers: fragility, fertility, beauty and the crave for eternal youth.

LUCID
We seek pristine places in our thoughts, on our body, on Earth. The discovery is exhilarating, we believe to find lucidity there. As an attempt to translate clarity we transport it to the visual field and define it as see-through or transparent.
The chosen material is Polyethylene, the food wrapping plastic, to bring the body to its original condition, unspoiled, preserve it clean and fresh as if new.
