Set your programmable thermostat to 78 degrees in the summer.
Use ceiling fans to cool rooms while occupied and turn them off when you leave.
Use a timer on your water heater so the heating element isn’t on when you are most likely to use other appliances. You should have enough water stored to accommodate most household chores.
Avoid using major appliances like the dryer or dishwasher at the same time.
Use a timer on your pool pump so it runs at different times than your major appliances.
In general, staggered appliance usage is key. Use the delay start function on your dishwasher so it runs overnight.
Use a smaller kitchen appliance like a slow cooker, microwave or air fryer to cook meals.
If the weather is nice, you can also grill outside to keep the heat where it belongs.
