Grants spark innovation in classrooms

What if funding was not an obstacle for your classroom’s next big project? CEC is making that dream a reality with its Bright Ideas grant program. Supporting innovative and creative projects that traditional funding doesn’t cover, this grant benefits educators who teach grades K4-12 at schools served by CEC. There are a limited number of grants and some changes to the program are being considered, so be sure to check our website for updates.

Last year, CEC was proud to give nearly $22,000 to some incredible educators who used the funds to transform their classrooms and make learning more engaging for their students. And who knows? This year, it could be your turn.

Classroom circuitry: High school wiring classes

Decades ago, CEC began teaching basic wiring classes, originally to show high school students how electricity could revolutionize their homes. Today, these classes have evolved to introduce students to the ins and outs of electrical wiring, tools and safety.

Thousands of students have participated in this hands-on program since it began in the 1960s. It’s more than just a class. It’s a first step toward high-demand careers, a chance to develop critical thinking skills and an introduction to problem-solving.
