2023 Cruisin’ for a Cure Car Show
On April 29, Joe Wheeler EMC held its 19th annual Cruisin’ for a Cure Car Show at the main office in Trinity. Blue skies and sunshine set the tone as over 160 antique vehicles participated to raise money for the American Cancer Society. This year, approximately $4,981.13 was raised and Swamp John’s restaurant catered the event.
JWEMC Lineman Kenneth Hanvy first conceived the idea in 2000 after attending several car shows over the decades with his wife Darlene. His fellow co-workers had been raising money for the American Cancer Society through Relay for Life events and Hanvy thought hosting a company car show would be a great way to bring communities together and raise money for the organization. After speaking with SCADA coordinator Dewanna Jones, the two held the first show in 2004, and ever since then the Cruisin’ for a Cure Car Show has donated more than $45,000 to the American Cancer Society.
