SMEC Awards

Sand Mountain Electric Cooperative recently presented $1,000 scholarships to four students within its service area. Scholarships are offered to all graduating high school seniors who are dependents of a co-op member in good standing. It’s our pleasure to introduce you to this year’s scholarship winners.

Sadie Smith is a graduate of Fyffe High School and the daughter of Mark and Cindy Smith of Fyffe. Sadie plans to attend Northeast Alabama Community College in the fall to major in computer science. After graduating NACC, Sadie plans to transfer to either JSU or UAH to major in information systems with a concentration in cybersecurity. She hopes to land a job with Google, Boeing or a government agency after completing her bachelor’s degree.

Kortni Davis is a graduate of Section High School. She is from Dutton and is the daughter of Kristie Dobbins and Chris Davis. Kortni plans to attend the University of Alabama in the fall to major in elementary education. Upon completing her bachelor’s degree, Kortni’s dream would be to return home and teach 2nd grade at Section.
