Making it easy Pioneer Electric Cooperative can take the headache away from mobile home members in need of electric service to their new or existing manufactured home. Mobile home service entrance poles are built by Pioneer’s linemen to current National Electrical Code specifications and are set in place to the proper depth at the member’s location. “We will sell a member a trailer pole entrance that is completely assembled to PEC safety and electrical specifications,” says Phillip Baker, vice president of engineering and operations for the cooperative. After Pioneer sets the trailer pole, the member will need to have a certified electrician connect the pole’s breaker box to the trailer’s inside breaker panel. Baker further added, “This is the fastest and cheapest way to get electricity 6  SEPTEMBER 2020

to your mobile home. Do-It-Yourselfers can’t compete with this service we provide.” At Pioneer Electric, manufactured homes make up about 65% of new services connected each year. The “entrance” for mobile homes requires a 25-foot power pole installed to a minimum of a 5-foot depth. The electrical panel provided is a power panel, which includes the meter box as well as the breaker box and comes with your choice of a 100-amp or 200-amp breaker. Our electric crews installed over 180 mobile home entrances in 2019 and will exceed that number in 2020 — with an expected 200 installed entrances this year. “When we install a trailer pole, the member has the assurance www.alabamaliving.coop
