SOWING SUCCESS

ALABAMA FARMERS COOPERATIVE JOINT-VENTURE IS A RISING STAR ON CROPLIFE 100’S BIG SEVEN LIST

In the dynamic and ever-evolving landscape of agriculture, a select group of companies consistently stands out, commanding nearly 70% of the crop inputs and services provided to grower-customers annually. GreenPoint Ag, a formidable player in this elite group, once again secures its place on CropLife 100's prestigious Big Seven list, alongside industry giants CHS, Wilbur-Ellis, GROWMARK, Simplot, Nutrien and Helena Agri-Enterprises.

Combined, the Big Seven represents a staggering 59% of all facilities tracked in the annual CropLife 100 listing. Among these powerhouses, GreenPoint Ag has carved its own unique path to success, embracing change and growth through strategic consolidations.

The genesis of GreenPoint Ag dates back to September 2020 when three influential organizations— Alabama Farmers Cooperative, Tennessee Farmers Cooperative, and legacy GreenPoint Ag—joined forces, uniting their wholesale and retail outlets under the GreenPoint Ag banner. This momentum continued into 2022 when Tri-County Farmers Association integrated its operations with the flourishing GreenPoint Ag network.

"I think we are a microcosm of the consolidation that's taken place in the industry," said Jeff Blair, President and CEO at GreenPoint Ag. “Over the past 40 years, some big ag retailers have been able to stay relatively stable. For others, it’s been this massive series of consolidations that have continued to this day. But GreenPoint Ag is an evolution of all this. We’ve embraced the concept of change that has guided the industry, but we’ve taken more of a partnership approach with the companies we’ve brought together.”

Looking ahead, Blair and his team envision a bright future for GreenPoint Ag and other major players in the ag retail landscape. Blair underscores the importance of the fundamental principle that has shaped the industry from its inception—service.

"The key differentiation for retailers is service, not just the products being offered. Ag retailers need to recognize this to grow their businesses. If we are simply a ‘box’ where growers can pick stuff up, we are just Farmers Business Network with a crappier website,” added Blair.

Amy Winstead, Vice President of Retail Sales and Operations at GreenPoint Ag, echoes Blair's sentiment, emphasizing the company's balance of history, tradition, service, and innovation. "We are very unique because we have all those pieces to bring together, with an incredible amount of resources from our partners to tap into as a company," says Winstead.

As GreenPoint Ag continues to sow success, it remains at the forefront of a transformative period in the agricultural industry. The company's commitment to service, innovation, and strategic partnerships positions it as a beacon of inspiration for the evolving landscape of ag retail.
