Neighborhoods
There are many fun and different neighborhoods to experience in Austin. Here is a quick breakdown of just a few of them.
CENTRAL AUSTIN Clarksville - An area located west of downtown Austin, east of Mopac and north of 6th Street. Many historic homes and structures are located within the Clarksville Historic District. Once an emancipated slave community, Clarksville has become a very popular neighborhood for its walkability and central location.

Hyde Park - Just north of downtown and The University of Texas at Austin campus, this eclectic neighborhood is filled with a mixture of bungalows, historic craftsman style homes and tree lined streets.
Old Enfield - Located with Lamar to the east, MoPac to the west, Windsor Road to the north and Enfield Road to the south, Old Enfield, is one of Austin’s most charming and historic neighborhoods. Originally part of the Pease family’s estate just west of Austin, the neighborhood was subdivided in 1910 and is still filled with history.
Pemberton Heights - This small, stately neighborhood, developed between the late 1920’s and early 1940’s, features upscale houses surrounded by open lawns and large trees with historic charm.
Tarrytown - Tarrytown is most often defined as the area bounded by Enfield Road to the south, 35th Street to the north, MoPac Expressway on the east, and Lake Austin on the west. In addition to being a quiet neighborhood full of meticulously maintained homes, the neighborhood has several shopping outlets including Tarrytown Center and Casis Village, both of which feature local businesses.
SOUTHWEST AUSTIN Circle C Ranch - A large master-planned community of more than 4,000 homes. Amenities include an 18-hole golf course called the Grey Rock Golf Club, a tennis club, a swim center, and more than 500 acres of dedicated parkland.
Oak Hill - A community located in southwest Austin. Originally called Live Oak Springs, Oak Hill is located on U.S. Highway 290 and Williamson Creek, eight miles south of downtown.
SOUTH AUSTIN Bouldin Creek - Bright storefronts and eccentric art galleries garner this funky neighborhood its must-see status. Located directly across Lady Bird Lake from downtown, Bouldin Creek blends central city convenience with edgy entertainment.
South Congress (SoCo) - With funky shops, great restaurants and cool bars, SoCo is an Austin hot spot. With close proximity to downtown, SoCo brings a young crowd and lots of energy. The world class food trailers, boutique hotels, and ecclectic shopping have cemented South Congress as one of Austin’s most desirable neighborhoods.
Travis Heights - An historic neighborhood in south Austin that is bounded by Lady Bird Lake on the north, Interstate 35 on the east, Congress Avenue on the west and Oltorf Street on the south. With a great mix of historic mansions, bungalows, and hip apartments, Travis Heights has close proximity to South Congress, Downtown Austin, and the major freeways.
EAST AUSTIN French Legation - Small businesses and great food have always been a staple in the area. The combination of modern houses mixed with vintage, and the fresh energy of new retail shops and restaurants have created an amazing community.
Mueller - The Roger Mueller Municipal Airport redevelopment project is now home to many people, restaurants, activities, and 140 acres of public open space. Just three miles to Downtown Austin, the Mueller development houses Austin favorites like the Thinkery, the Alamo Drafthouse, and Dell Children’s Hospital.
NORTH AUSTIN Arboretum - This neighborhood, located close to many highways, is popular amongst commuting professionals. These residents enjoy upscale shopping at the Arboretum Shopping Mall or outdoor activities in nearby parks.
Cedar Park - Northwest of Austin, Cedar Park has become a great young family community. It features a comfortable suburban lifestyle with excellent schools, planned developments, and great outdoor parks.
The Domain - The Domain features 1,200,000 square feet of high-end retailers and restaurants situated in a beautiful park-like setting. It’s modern, high-tech living where great dining, shopping, and entertainment are all around you.
Pflugerville - Located just east of Round Rock, with many subdivisions and quality schools, it is a good affordable community.
Round Rock - Home to most of the suburban comforts- big box retailers, chain restaurants and a minor league baseball team. The city of Round Rock has been named among the safest cities in the U.S. of 100,000 people or more.
WEST AUSTIN Barton Creek - Barton Creek is a popular community comprised of many smaller but elegant and well-maintained neighborhoods located around Barton Creek Country Club. The neighborhoods offer a variety of housing choices from luxury condominiums to spectacular villas and estates. Many of them have fabulous views of the hills and are gated for privacy.
Lakeway - Located 16 miles west of Austin, this beautiful community is home to Lake Travis. Lakeway provides excellent schools, great restaurants and endless activities on the water.
Westlake Hills - The small city is comprised of four square miles. Westlake is dedicated to preserving the rural environment and maintaining the natural beauty of the area. Westlake Hills showcases some of the most prominent homes in the Austin area and features the highly reputed Eanes Independent School District.
