Smart labelling, higher efficiency Brady Corporation’s printing and labelling solutions help identify and protect people, products and places. Christophe Nelissen, regional manager, Middle East and Southern Africa discusses the company’s focus on automation. Technical Review Middle East (TRME): What was your main focus at the Middle East Energy 2022? Christophe Nelissen (CN): We have been participating in the Middle East Energy show for nearly two decades. What we wanted to do differently this year was to focus on smart labelling solutions and automation. So, this was one of the first editions of the exhibition where we showcased emerging technologies as well. We have always been a company that focuses on innovations.

TRME: How is labelling an important part of the oil and gas and the power industries? CN: Brady Corporation offers solutions that help customers increase safety, security, productivity as well as performance and includes highperformance labels, signs, safety devices, printing systems and software. Oil and gas has always been an important sector for our solutions. In such challenging applications and environments, professional labelling is of great significance in cable identification, safety identification and other functions, enabling benefits including greater safety and complete traceability. For example, in the identification of pipelines, we have innovated the labelling solutions to measure pressure, helping with predictive maintenance. TRME: What are you foreseeing for Brady in the Middle East region during the medium term? CN: We are looking at expanding our footprint in the region, especially in Saudi

TRME: Would you please elaborate on your smart labelling solutions and the RFID technology? CN: We see that customers are expecting more from a label, they want it to be connected and not be just a selfadhesive label. The RFID technology opens a lot of possibilities such as capturing temperature, pressure, humidity and other parameters. The flexible, temperature sensing smart labels can be applied to almost any surface. Brady Corporation has unveiled a new, highly reliable dual frequency RFID label, making it possible for companies to

improve product and item supply chain management, authentication as well as end user engagement with a single label.

At Middle East Energy 2022, Brady’s focus was on smart labelling solutions and automation.

CN: Brady makes printing easier and more efficient for all identification needs. We are bringing in many innovations for printers, for instance, the printers connected to bluetooth so that there is no longer the need for a keyboard. Other changes include larger displays with intuitive screens and automating the identification so the printer and applicator reduce errors and save manpower. Brady has an industrial label printer to suit every application. Brady’s latest i5300 Industrial Label Printer is equipped with autocalibrating, takes just seconds to set up and load, offering a faster, easier start toprint process. Customers can enjoy timesaving features like a print queue and interrupt function. ■ www.technicalreview.me
