Where the trend originated: peter pan collars

The Peter Pan collar gets it’s name from the collar on the costume of Maude Adams during her role as Peter Pan in the 1905 stage production, ‘Peter Pan and Wendy’. By the 1920’s this flat collar with rounded edges became a staple on little girl’s dresses, possibly because of it’s association with innocence. Now, the collar is back with a modern edge on women’s dresses, blouses and even sweaters.
