CAST

Thomas Allison (Cornel West, Charles Lloyd) Thomas Allison is an Assistant Professor of Legal Studies. He is a lawyer, founder of a nonprofit, and entrepreneur. Thomas performed as Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. in last year’s staged reading of The Mountaintop. Thomas is the Chair of the Faculty Diversity Committee at the University of La Verne and a proud father and husband. Vincent Briseno (Jessye Norman/Anonymous) Vincent Briseno is freshman this year majoring in Theatre Arts. Vincent is very excited to begin his journey with the theatre department as a performance scholarship recipient! Some of his recent shows include FROZEN the musical, and The Complete Works of William Shakespeare. Upon graduation in 2024,Vincent hopes to become a high school theatre teacher and continue his passion for the arts. He is very thankful to be a part of the production this year and can’t wait to see what the future holds for him! Mitchell Calderilla (Shelby Coffey III, Jay Woong Yahng, Talent Agent, Joe Viola) Mitchell Calderilla is a sophomore Musical Theatre major at the University of La Verne and plans to pursue a career as a performer upon graduation (2023). This is his second production at the university, and is honored to have the opportunity to use theatre as a way to tell the stories from the 1992 LA riots. Some of his credits include Whisper 2 in Whisper Into the Ground (2020), and Assistant Stage Manager for Facing Our Truth (2019). He has vocally trained under the direction of Dr. Irene Messoloras, Todd Strange, Ariel Pisturino, Michael Skidgel, Courtney Taylor, and Jim Wilson. He has studied under the dramatic direction of Dr. Alma Martinez, Sean Dillon, Jeanine Lopez, and has acting training in the Meisner technique. Jai Deguerio (Paul Parker, Elvira Evers, Hon. Maxine Waters) Jai Deguerio is a fourth year Psychology major with a Biology minor at the University of La Verne. Although she does not have prior acting experience, she was excited to hear about the production of Twilight: Los Angeles,1992. She believes this to be a great step in keeping the conversation going on her campus. What has happened to Rodney King, Latasha Harlins, George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, and so many others is unacceptable and a painful reminder of the changes our nation must face. Jai believes that the platform being used by the faculty and producers is impactful and an experience she is grateful to be a part of.


Julieta Del Toro (Keith Watson, Mrs. June Park, Elaine Brown) Julieta is extremely thrilled to be a part of this production and cast! She is always eager to try on new roles and take part in significant and message-driven theatre. Some of her recent roles include Rebecca/Rahim in Facing Our Truths: Short Plays on Trayvon, Race, and Privilege (University of La Verne, 2019) for which she earned a KCACTF Irene Ryan Award Nomination for outstanding performance and Petra in An Enemy of the People (University of La Verne, 2020). She is especially grateful to her family for being faithful audience members to her many performances over the years and for bearing through the endless monologues and at-home rehearsals. She would also like to extend her sincerest gratitude to her many professors and directors who over the years have given constant support, feedback and reassurance. Originally from Aurora, IL, Julieta has enjoyed playing major roles and ensemble parts in her school plays and community theatre since she was 8. She now lives in the suburbs of Los Angeles and has big dreams of pursuing a career in television and cinema. In her free time, Julieta enjoys playing piano and drums, practicing her singing and cuddling her dog Chispita. Charles Doskow (Bill Bradley, Daryl Gates) Dean Emeritus and Professor of Law, Charles Doskow has not acted in a play since college, and is delighted to work with the students and faculty of the college in presenting Twilight: Los Angeles, 1992. He has taught in the university’s College of Law since 1979, and served as its dean from 1980-1985. A graduate of Harvard Law School, Professor Doskow is a member of the La Verne Academy. Liliana Hernandez (Elaine Young, Stanley Sheinbaum, Maria) Liliana Hernandez is a sophomore liberal arts major at the University of La Verne, and Twilight: Los Angeles, 1992 will be her first production in the theatre department. She plans on pursuing teaching as a career, while aspiring to continue acting. She hopes to be involved in more theatre productions throughout the years and is truly honored to be a part of this cast. Nickolas McLean (Sgt. Charles Duke, Ted Briseno) Nickolas McLean is a second-year double major in business administration and theatre. A ULV Performance Scholarship recipient, he’s performed in multiple plays at La Verne Theatre including Dorian in The Picture of Dorian Gray and most recently Facing Our Truth. He’s honored to be part of another play that inspires discussion during some of the most divided times in America. He also hopes you guys enjoy this new format of theatre during the unprecedented times we are facing.


Breanna Moir (Angela King, Gina Rey aka Queen Malkah, Twilight Bey) Breanna Moir is a Psychology major expecting to graduate in 2021 with her B.S. she would like to continue acting in the future.

Aiden Olivares (Reginald Denny, Mrs. Young-Soon Han, Chris Oh) Aiden Olivares is a Theatre Arts major at the University of La Verne. She has performed in plays such as Auntie Mame as Patrick Denis and musicals such as Sugar as part of the ensemble. Recently, she garnered a Macy’s Bright Spot Award. She is very excited to be working with the cast in Twilight: Los Angeles, 1992.

Jacob Quiroz (Rudy Salas Sr., Walter Park,) Jacob Quiroz is a freshman Theatre Arts major and a 2020 ULV Performance Scholarship recipient. He has been acting since second grade and enjoys dance, music and improv. Jacobs favorite roles are Genie in Aladdin, Pumba in Lion King, King Triton in Little Mermaid, and the Prince in Into the Woods. He is a proud graduate of the School of Arts and Enterprise in Pomona, CA. He enjoys theatre very much and plans to pursue this professionally.

Natalie Torres (Josie Morales, Alice Waters) Natalie Torres (or simply Nat) is a Theatre Arts major at the University of La Verne. Her previous theatrical performances include: Machinal, Ajax, Piece of my Heart, The Odd Couple, Vanya, Sonia, Masha & Spike at Dailey Theatre at the University of La Verne. Vocal performances include: Of Love and Nature, Christmas Concert, Community through Music. An actor, singer and audio technician, she dedicates her talent to small companies and projects. As a singer, she spends her free time jamming with her guitar and writing new songs for her song book.


Production Team Alma Martinez (Director) Dr. Alma Martinez is an Associate Professor in the Department of Theatre Arts at the University of La Verne. Her prior productions at the university include; Machinal (Co-Director); Vietgone; Tres Actos: The Militants, Vietnam Campesino & Los Vendidos and; Electricidad. She is a member the Society of Stage Directors and Choreographers, SAG AFTRA, AEA and the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences (Actors Branch). She is currently appearing in the Netflix hit series Gentefied, the Amazon series Undone, and Clemency, the 2020 Sundance Grand Jury Award winning feature film.

Alix Yumi Cho (Producer, Stage Manager) Alix Yumi Cho believes stories have the power to promote empathy. She creates stories through plays, film, painting, and song lyrics. Her recent roles include: Assistant Stage Manager for Cabaret at the University of La Verne; for Vista Players: Constantinople, which won the Broadway World Awards Los Angeles in 2019; and An Enemy of the People at the University of La Verne. Additional credits include: script supervisor for a short film, Life and a TV series, The Green Couch.

Cricket S Myers (Sound Designer) In 2011, Cricket received a Drama Desk Award and a Tony Nomination for her design of Bengal Tiger at the Baghdad Zoo. In 2018, The League of Professional Theatre Women honored Cricket with the Ruth Morley Award for Theatrical Design. Cricket has been nominated for 23 Ovation Awards between 2007 and 2019. She has designed regionally at the Geffen Playhouse (The Untranslatable Secrets of Nikki Corona, Underneath the Lintels, Play Dead, Discord, Wrecks, Some Girls, Emergency), The Mark Taper Forum (Bent, Steward of Christendom, Joe Turner’s Come and Gone, Bengal Tiger at the Baghdad Zoo, Lieutenant of Inishmore, Subject was Roses), La Jolla Playhouse (The Squirrels, Guards at the Taj, Sideways, The Nightingale), South Coast Rep (Sweeny Todd, Kings, A Doll’s House, Part 2, The Fantasticks, Elemeno Pea), The Kirk Douglas Theater (Mutthouse, Endgame, Bengal Tiger at the Baghdad Zoo), Pasadena Playhouse (Real Women, Stoneface, Above the Fold), The Wallis Annenberg (Sisters in Law, Blues in the Night). Other selected L.A. theaters include Ghost Road Theater Company, The Ricardo Montalban Theater (I Only Have Eyes for You), and The Celebration Theater. Cricket won the Kinetic Award for Outstanding Achievement in Theatrical Design in 2014, and serves on the Ovation Rules Committee. She was a Founding Board Member and West Coast Rep of the Theatrical Sound Designers and Composers Association, and was elected to the Western Board of United Scenic Artists Local 829 in 2017, and serves as the Western Trustee to the Local Union Executive Board of USA 829. www.cricketsmyers.com


Tom Ontiveros (Production Design) Tom consistently chooses projects affecting themes of social justice. Credits include designs at Oregon Shakespeare Festival, American Repertory Theatre, Berkeley Repertory, Cornerstone Theatre Company, Native Voices, Jail Guitar Doors, East West Players, Denver Center, Center Theatre Group, South Coast Repertory, Pasadena Playhouse, Geffen Playhouse and the La Jolla Playhouse. His work has also been presented at the Hong Kong Cultural Centre, Hungarian National Theatre, Phoenix Symphony, Bass Symphony Hall, Brooklyn Academy of Music, Park Avenue Armory, Kennedy Center, and L.A. Opera. Awards include Lady Day at Emerson’s Bar & Grill (Ovation! nomination), The Exonerated (Lucille Lortel & Drama Desk Awards), My Barking Dog (L.A. Drama Critics Choice Award) The House in Scarsdale (L.A. Drama Critics Choice Award nomination), Shiv (Best Projection, StageRaw Awards nomination), Completeness (Ovation! nomination). Tom’s design for Pure Native at the Smithsonian National Museum of the American Indian was postponed due to COVID 19. Tom is an Assistant Professor of Design at the University of La Verne, Ca.

Jeanette Godoy (Costume Designer) Jeanette Godoy is an interdisciplinary artivist (actor, costume designer, producer and social justice educator). She was raised in Inglewood, California and received her BA in Liberal Studies with a Specialization in Chicana/o Studies from San Diego State University. Jeanette holds a BCLAD Multiple Subject Teaching Credential and an MFA in Acting with a Specialization in Costume Design from UCLA’s School of Theater, Film and Television and currently teaches Theatre for the 21st Century at California State University, Long Beach. She has styled/designed costumes for Skeleton Stories (Theater of Note), The Women of Juarez, Kiss of the Spider Woman, Manzanita: A Violent Love Affair, I Killed Pancho Villa! and The Rifles of Carrar (Frida Kahlo Theater), B.R.I.D.G.E Theater Company, Grand Performances: Magic Fruit Staged Reading (Cornerstone Theater Company), Room No 9 in the Chrysalis Inn (Hollywood Fringe) and films Whittier Boulevard (Outfest Fusion), Origin (UCLA), and Running Shadow (AFI). “Nimitz tlacuiquilia ica noche nohc yohlotzi, ome yocan”- OMETEOTL. @misskahlo Rae Revilla (Props Master) Rae Revilla is a senior Psychology major at the University of La Verne. They have taken part in ULV’s 2018 production of Cabaret and theatre remains a vital part of their life. Please enjoy the show!


Alan Tollefson (Technical Director, Production Manager) Alan Tollefson is a multimedia artist who has exhibited new media works at McDonough Museum of Art in Youngstown, Ohio, and at Digital Media Factory and Porter Sesnon Gallery, both in Santa Cruz; sculpture at Artists Space in New York City; and performance art at Lower Links, Randolph Street Gallery, and N.A.M.E Gallery, all in Chicago. In Beth Stephens and Annie Sprinkle’s purple wedding in Altadena, Ca, he performed Moon Clown. His original work Frozen Music/Pink Noise was presented in 2012 at Human Resources in Los Angeles, Ca.. In 2016, he presented his original work URUK at The University of La Verne and recently he designed the scenic elements and video for L.A.P.D.’s performance: I Fly! or How to Keep the Devil Down in the Hole at REDCAT Theatre, Los Angeles, CA. Currently, he teaches stagecraft and performance art at the University of La Verne. Meena Duguay (Box Office, Outreach and Publicity) Meena Duguay is a graduate student in the La Fetra Master of Teaching program at the University of La Verne. She has worked at the Theatre as the Outreach Coordinator for 2 years. She has a B.A. in Theatre from Pitzer College. She has performed in multiple shows as an actor and has been an Assistant Director for the Drama program at the Ontario-Montclair School District for the last ten years. Michael Ziyan Xu (Graphic Artist) Ziyan “Michael” Xu is a current graduate student in University of La Verne. He just finished his MBA program with a minor in Supply Chain Management. He is now studying his second major in Data Analysis in ULV and will be graduated in 2021. Jasmine Mejia Carrillo (Marketing) Jasmine Mejia Carrillo is a junior and a Psychology major at the University of La Verne. Her roles include: Athena in Ajax and she also works in the Department of Theatre Arts as a Marketing Assistant and Technical Theatre Assistant. While this is her first time working marketing, she is motivated and excited to have the opportunity to work with Dr. Alma Martinez and Alan Tollefson on this production. She hopes you enjoy the production! Miranda Tejeda (Assistant Stage Manager) Miranda Tejeda is a Theatre Arts Major, graduating in 2021, and a ULV Performance Scholarship recipient. Her focus is on Stage Management and Costume Design. Favorite ULV shows include Facing Our Truth: Short Plays on Trayvon, Race & Privilege, Cabaret, and Vietgone. Professional Stage Manager credits include As You Like It at Ophelia’s Jump Theatre. She has worked at Disneyland’s Entertainment Costuming Department for 2 years and plans to apply to MFA programs that lead to a career in professional theatre. Baylee Logan (Social Media) Baylee Logan is a senior at the University of La Verne, double majoring in Theatre Arts and Business Administration. Baylee has participated in many productions at La Verne acting, stage managing, or taking on other roles backstage. When she graduates next year, she plans to go to law school to study Entertainment Law.
