This thirteen-mile-long river of ice, which terminates in Mendenhall Lake, is a wonderful Juneau highlight. Hike on one of several trails that bring you closer to the glacier, salmon streams and a thundering waterfall.

Marvel at this colorful Alaskan botanical garden! Begin with a ride in covered rainforest adventure vehicles through the rainforest on Thunder Mountain. Then stroll through the Upside-Down Forest viewing vibrant flowers displays.

Built in 1897 during the height of the Gold Rush, the Red Onion Saloon once operated as one of the finest Bordellos in town. Tour the historic property and museum, then join the good-time girls for a rowdy lunch.

EASTERN BARANOF ISLAND

Exploration by Hike, Skiff and Kayak

Your captain will anchor on Eastern Baranof Island, nicknamed “The Waterfall Coast” for a day spent exploring the area at your leisure. Take out a kayak in search of coastal wildlife like bears, eagles and sheep. Hike trails leading inland and along the rock beaches. Set out on a smaller group skiff to get closer to thundering waterfalls.

Fortress of the Bears

Meet the bears who call this rescue sanctuary home while touring the grounds. Founded with the mission of helping Alaska’s orphaned and sick bear cubs, the Fortress of the Bears provides care and an enriching environment to Alaska’s bears in need.

New Archangel Dancers

Watch Sitka’s most famous dance troop perform! Since 1969, the mission of the New Archangel Dancers has been to promote and encourage interest in Alaska’s Russian history and culture through eighteenth and nineteenth century folk dance and song.

Alaska Raptor Center

Alaska Raptor Center provides medical care and rehabilitation to Alaska’s raptors and wild birds. Here a team member will provide an up close raptor demonstration and explain the process of caring for the birds. Then meet some of the forever residents in their treetop homes.

TRACY ARM FJORD

Exploration by Skiff

Exploring this fjord by small vessel gives you the advantage of a close approach to Sawyer Glacier where ice chunks the size of cars continually crash into the waters below. Resting on the icebergs are often sea birds and seals. View bears and mountain goats from the shorelines.

ICY STRAIT POINT

Mountain Top and Transporter Gondolas

Surrounded by towering rainforest and only a short distance away from the Tlingit village of Hoonah, Icy Strait Point is considered a wilderness port on the Inside Passage. Ride up on the Mountain Top and Transporter Gondolas for sweeping views of the waters of Icy Strait.
