JudgingwilltakeplaceonFebruary18,2025,andtheArtistryinWoodshowwillnot beopentothepublicduringjudging. Judgingtakesplaceineachindividualdiscipline andalldecisionsofthejudgesarefinal. Allribbonsareawardedbasedonmerit. Just becausethereisoneentryinaClassdoesnotmeanthatithastoreceiveafirstplace

ribbon.ThereisnorequirementthatjudgesawardribbonsinallDivisionsorClassesfor whichthereareentries.

FirstplacewinnersareautomaticallyenteredtocompeteforDivisionribbons. DivisionwinnersareautomaticallyenteredtocompeteforBestofShow.

GENERAL RULES AND REGULATIONS

10.Judgeswillawardribbonsonthebasisofmerit. Thereisnorequirementthat judgesshallawardablueribbonforallclassesinwhichthereareentries. Judgesmayeliminateexhibitsfromcompetition,moveentriestoanalternate classordivision,orcreatespecialclassesordivisionswhenitisdeemed appropriate.

11.Onlyqualifiedwoodworkerswillhandletheentries.Everyeffortwillbemadeto ensurethesafetyandsecurityofentries.However,AlaskaCreative Woodworkers,AlaskaWoodturners,LastFrontierWoodcarvers,AlaskaCreative Scrollers,norjudges,norvolunteersshallbeinanywayheldliableforlossor damagetotheentries. Entrantsshouldmakeseparatearrangementsfor insuranceagainstaccidentallossesordamages.

12.Allentriesanddisplayitemsmustremainondisplayuntilthelastdayofthe event. Allentrantsmustpickuptheirentriesordisplayitemsinpersonorhave madepriorarrangementstohaveanotherpartypickuptheirentry.

1. Entriesmustbeinthenameofthepersonwhomadetheitem.Groupprojects,while welcomefordisplayonly,arenoteligibleforcompetition. Groupprojectsaretobe enteredinthenameoftheowner,buttheindividualartistsinvolvedintheproject shallbeidentifiedonaseparatecardfordisplaywiththeitem.

2. Entriesmusthavebeencompletedwithinthelasttwoyears.Itemsmaynothave beenenteredinanypreviousArtistryinWoodCompetition.

3. TheShowCommitteereservestherighttochange,combineorbreakdownIndividual classesand/ordivisions,andmaylimitentriesduetospaceavailability. Alldecisions madebymembersoftheShowCommitteearefinal.

ScrollingStyle / ComplexityLevel

BasicScrollProjects:Singlepieceprojectsormultiplepieceprojectswherepieces relatetothosepiecescutawayfromeachother(e.g.,puzzles)andlapoverprojects (e.g.,basketsandbowlsthatinvolvestackingbutwheretherearenocontinuouslines asseenin"wovenbaskets,)

ComplexProjects:Projectsinvolvinglayering(e.g.,basketswheretherearecontinuous linesasseeninwovenbaskets)wherecuttingiscriticaltoalignment),inlaysandrelief wherepiecesarestackcut.

4. Allentriesaresubmittedattheexhibitor'srisk.Whilereasonablemeasuresaretaken toprotectandsecuretheentries,someentrieswillbedisplayedwithinthereachof theviewingpublic.Occasionallyaccidentsmayhappen.LastFrontierWoodcarving, AlaskaCreativeWoodworkers,AlaskaCreativeWoodscrollers,andAlaskaWood Turnersshallnotberesponsibleforanydamageorlossofentries. ComplexProjectswithFittingandShaping:Involvescuttingpiecesseparatelythatwill befittedtogethertoformdesignpatternsorpicturesusingopposinggrainsordifferent woodstoachievecoloringandshadingandmay,also,includeshapingviasanders and/orgrinderstoachieve3-dimensionalpictures(e.g.,intarsia.)

3. Woodcarvingsshallbetheworkofthewoodcarvermakingtheentry.
