THE HOLITNA RIVER LODGE is located 238 miles SW of Anchorage in the core of Alaska bush country and is on a spectacular waterway with hundreds of miles of river to fish and hunt from. These river systems contain more species of Alaska sports fish and salmon than almost any other system in Alaska. We stage our fishing and hunting adventures from our Holitna River Lodge. We are strategically located in the “Heart” of Alaska. We have a 2,300-foot runway for our Cessna 206 and our Super Cub, 3 duplex cabins, 4 private cabins, 20 boats, a beautiful garden, and a big “Alaskan” main lodge. Our cooks, pilots, and guides continue to give you that warm Alaskan hospitality! We are about as remote as you can get. The fishing is incredible! Many times we go all week on our river system and do not see another boat.
Sport fishing in Alaska Rivers and Lakes is legendary. The very names of some of the Alaskan Sports fish you may catch generate visions of adventure, Alaska Fishing Paradise! Our rivers feature King Salmon, Red Salmon, Silver Salmon, Pink, and Chum Salmon, world-class rare and exotic Sheefish, Arctic Char, Grayling, Dolly Varden and some of the best Northern Pike fishing in Alaska. The Holitna River and tributaries are highly rated and listed in the state’s top 10 Alaskan Rivers for fly-fishing or lures. We are in very remote, untouched Alaska – many weeks we never see another boat or fisherman. Amazing and Affordable. Alaskan-Adventures holds twelve world line records in Northern Pike & Shee-Fish, fishing the Holitna. These remote rivers are much less frequented by Alaskan sports fishermen. It is truly untamed Alaska full of tremendous wildlife and sports fishing diversity. I invite you to experience the Holitna, guided or unguided.
TRUE. WILD. READ. In Wild Men, Wild Alaska professional hunting and ďŹ shing guide and outďŹ tter Rocky McElveen tells the stories of his own adventures as well as those of some of his well-known clients. The book takes readers directly into the Alaskan bush, and shares the intense challenges of a majestic wilderness that pushes a man to his limits.
Field to Table
Alaskan Adventures has a long history of fine dining and an even longer tradition of field to table. Just because you’ve opted for a remote Alaskan adventure is no reason to miss out on eating well. Our chef’s source all meat and fish caught locally and herbs and vegetables are grown right on-site in our lodge garden. This allows our chef’s to prepare each dish as if he is cooking only for you. If you have dietary restrictions we are happy to prepare dishes that keep you healthy and on track. Every meal at Alaskan Adventures is focused on freshness and presentation. You may be at a remote wilderness Lodge, but the taste is worthy of any top metropolitan city. The best part is that after a day of fishing, hiking, hunting, and more, you have earned every bite!

Twelve records are better than one. Vicki Martin displays her 21-pound northern pike.
We’d say Vicki D. Martin had a pretty decent trip to Alaska in July. She returned from her trip rested, relaxed and with TWELVE records under her belt, including this 9.64-kilogram (21-pound, 4-ounce) northern pike. Vicki broke her own IGFA Women’s 15-kilogram (30-pound) Line Class World Record, to boot. Vicki was fishing with Dan Paull, owner/guide at Alaskan Adventures on the Holitna River, Alaska, when she landed and released the record fish.

Made in the USA: Eppinger Lure Co. By Peter B. Mathiesen In 1906, Lou Eppinger spent a month in the Canadian wilderness hammering on 2-ounce pieces of brass until they wobbled in the water with authority and did not twist his line. Upon returning home to Detroit, his black-and-white Osprey quickly became popular with local anglers. In 1918, ads in Outdoor Life and Field & Stream magazines helped boost production from 1,000 units a month to 50,000. That year, the Osprey was renamed the Dare Devil (the spelling was changed to Dardevle in the 1920s, "to ensure we were not offending any religious folks," says national sales manager John Cleveland) and the devil-head logo was added. The lure has remained unchanged since, and it's still the company's best seller. A Team Effort In the late 1950s, Lou's nephew Ed moved the plant from Detroit to Dearborn. Ed's daughter, Karen Eppinger, now supervises 15 tight-knit employees (the average tenure is more than 20 years), each of whom can do any job in the factory. At 70, Karen ties squirrel hair and feathers by hand to more than 100,000 lures a year. In the winter, she packs nearly every shipment. When Jennifer Bustamante, Karen's daughter, isn't doing the books, she's putting split rings on spoons. John Cleveland spends time in the paint booth. While moving production to the Pacific Rim would make the family wealthy, there's no joy in the thought. "Lou and my dad would haunt me," says Karen. "We'll never leave Michigan as long as any member of my family is alive."
