//artist statement\\ My approach to design is simple and constantly evolving. I work to strive to create visual compositions that optimize the relationship between original imagery in conjunction with typography. My work is diverse and is diverse and produced with careful attention to detail, as I integrate shape colors and textures. My purpose is to weave elements together to create well thought concepts. As a graphic designer I consider myself to be a communicator, an educator, an organizer, in addition to being an artist. Using various forms of media to provoke thought, acknowledge good humor, and convey good ideas that effect lives of people is the driving force behind my design. My influences come from the world around me as well as early influences such as the Bauhaus and war propaganda from WWI and WWII. I enjoy the varied use of typography, bold, sometime witty images all set to in the midst of Modernist architectural influences and powerful messages. My strengths are providing quality, inspirational designs with commitment to professionalism and time efficiency. I’m a talented designer with experience in print and some web design that is highly motivated, creative, and versatile. I’m especially skilled in creating and directing unique designs with unmatched creativity. I have exceptional interpersonal skills with team members and subordinates. I’m accomplished at incorporating the desires of the client with a superior design solution. I’m seeking a company that demands high quality design to further business goals and professional image.

SellOut The SellOut goal is to encourage teens (ages 13-18) to not only be consumers of goods and services, but to also produce goods and services of there own, sell those goods and services and save the proceeds. Through this campaign, SellOut will encourage kids to find their entrepreneurial niche, encouraging teens to be more aware of consumer tactics and trends. Our intent is to show teens tactics that corporations use to sale products to consumers, and finding new innovative ways to improve, or completely revamp those tactics.

Branding Tools
Red Rover was a group branding project. The concept was a children’s clothing store that specialized in crafting quality, durable clothing, but also providing education for children and parents about the importance of maintaining an active lifestyle. This goal was set to be seen throughout our design by our energetic color palette and treatment of typography that resonated movement and joy.
Bangarang is a design solution created for some friends of mine. They started a small time longboard production operation out of their garage. In addition to providing design concepts for the boards themselves, I devised an entire brand identity for them. Even though this big dream is at a small starting point the tools are now in place to help them move forward.

Posters I love making posters! Though some have no purpose outside of my own person inspiration, I find them to be unique and stimulating. Some of the earliest forms of what we define as “graphic design today started with posters out of necessity. Although the process of creating them has become much simpler the effect they have still has the potential to make a bold impact. From the humble beginnings, the concept behind posters still has the ability ti inspire and communicate.

10 MINUTES WITH Back in 2006, Austin Carty appeared as a contestant on “Survivor: Panama,” and since then he has published his first book, “High Points & Lows: Life, Faith and Figuring It All Out,” a simultaneously humorous and serious perspective on one’s journey of faith.
TC: Looking back, what did you take from being on “Survivor”?
AC: I’ve read a lot of Christian faithbased material in my life and … looking back, I now realize that they always seemed to present a very idealized version of faith … [and] didn’t talk about the concerns and the questions and the doubts and the struggles and the fears that I was having … So consequently, I was left with a lot of unvoiced fears and concerns about how real was the substance of my own belief … I now see that those questions and doubts and fears weren’t the markings of someone who didn’t have faith, but rather, were the markings of a human being. So what I wanted to do with this book was … allow other people who are experiencing similar fears and questions see that they aren’t alone.
AC: It was the first time I’d ever really needed anything. I’d wanted things before, but I’d never needed anything. And you know, after our first three days we had to get fire and consequently couldn’t boil water and are teetering close to dehydration, I remember it occurring to me that maybe prayer might be a good resort … I’m not one of those Christians who believes that whenever I want something God’s going to grant me my wish list … But what I found out that day when I began praying was for the first time … I did not have any doubt that I was going to be talking to somebody … “Survivor” is not a game show … instead it’s a microcosm of life … And you come to find that if you believe in yourself, you can do a whole heck of a lot. But if you believe in someone bigger than yourself, you can do absolutely anything.
TC: Are you looking back on what you’ve seen or experienced in life and trying to make sense of it? AC: Yeah, that’s a lot of what it is … For instance, I observe the materialism of our culture and this idea of the fear of commitment … through the prism of the television show “Saved By the Bell” … I even have an essay in the book … called “On Being Dumped” where all I do is break out in narrative form the three most embarrassing, humbling experiences I had being dumped growing up … I firmly believe there’s no greater, more humbling thing than a dumping, and meanwhile, I believe there’s no greater virtue than humility. Nothing is more humbling than a solid dumping.
TC: And now you’ve published a book. AC: I’m so excited about it, man. I’ve been trying to make it as a writer for eight years … And one of the things I actually talk about in the book is the power of perseverance … and just the spiritual reward that one receives through that. TC: What’s been your goal in writing this book?
