FORWARD & TOGETHER… WE CONTINUE OUR DELEGATION PLANNING

Dear Confreres and Members of the Salesian Family,

Peace!

Delegation Planning “Forward and Together” was the overriding theme of our 2phase Delegation Planning last January 11-13 and April 27-29, 2016. “Forward and Together” will continue to be our mission slogan as we end the first 25 years of our Salesian presence in Cambodia and forge ahead to a promising future as a Delegation. Three months have passed since we have finalized our Salesian Educative Pastoral Plan for our Delegation. I wish to thank everyone for an enlightening and encouraging meeting where we all felt one as a family, expressing our concern and love for the mission of Don Bosco in Cambodia.

IN THIS ISSUE

I wish to thank Fr. Mario Baclig, SDB for animating our planning with all of his creativity, hard work and expertise. I wish to remind everyone of our agreed target points in the pastoral plan for this month of August: 1. Preparation of the concept plan of our PDO to be presented on August 16 Delegation Council Meeting 2. Preparation of the Local Development Plans in view of the reshaping of our presences 3. Consolidation of all Local HR Departments

Communication Delegates I trust we have, or are about to start on all of the above and that all three points have been completed before we open the

The Social Communication Representative could be a teacher, Salesian or member of the Salesian Family who is interested in taking care of the social communication activities of the local presence and connecting with the Social Communication of the Delegation. The social communication representative will provide news & information of its local Salesian presence, receive and distribute information from the Social Communication of the Delegation, THA Province, EAO Region, SDB Congregation at large and other local social networks. The representative will also attend national meetings and formation on Social Communication, and study and implement the Social Communication Handbook of the Salesian Congregation and the Policies of the Social Communication of the Delegation of Cambodia. With a social communication representative in each presence, we can be assured also of constant updates from other members of the Salesian Family and coming up with a simple monthly Salesian Family Newsletter, accessible by email. Please contact Fr. Samnang Albeiro Rodas, SDB, our Delegate for Social Communication in Cambodia, at albeiror24@gmail.com to confirm your representative.

Fr. John’s Birthday At this time, we remember to pray for the good health of Fr John Visser, especially on his 83rd birthday last August 2. We are happy to know that 200 of our past pupils from Phnom Penh, Kep and Sihanoukville went to Poipet on the 29th of July to give him a birthday surprise greeting and conduct an additional program on Saturday the 30th of July. On the occasion of his birthday, the past pupils prepared 84 packed gifts for the children of Poipet, gave a cash donation of $2,000 with a framed portrait of Fr John, and organized a football match in the afternoon and a family meal in the evening. On their way home, they passed by our Agro-Mechanical Vocational School in Salabalath Battambang and were happy to see the farm and its development.

First Profession of Sister Sopheak On August 5, 2016 we are happy as a delegation and Salesian Family in thanking God for the gift of another local vocation in the temporary religious profession of Sr. Phim Sopheak Teresa before Msgr. Enrique Figaredo, Apostolic Prefect of Battambang, at the Chapel of the Salesian Sisters at Teuk Thla. She is the third Cambodian to profess as an FMA. We remember her in our prayers that she will be faithful to the Lord in her self-offering for the salvation of the young. We also include in our prayers her family, who willingly offered her to the Lord. Our presence in the celebration contributes to our ecclesial communion.

Mgr. Enrique Figeredo, SJ, Apostolic Prefect of Battambang, presided the Ceremony.

Delegation Next Activities Lastly, on August 16 and17, 2016, on the birthday of Don Bosco, we will have our overnight gathering as a Delegation at Don Bosco Technical School Phnom Penh for our Delegation Council meeting, quarterly recollection and our assembly as confreres. We are looking forward to our fraternal presence, communion and sharing as we look back on the school year that is about to end and plan for the new school year to come. I send you all in advance my greeting: “Happy Solemnity of the Assumption of our Blessed Virgin Mary, who has always been with us in our life and mission in Cambodia.

May our Lady continually guide and bless us with her Motherly protection and care that we may carry out faithfully the mission of Don Bosco to the poor and marginalized.
