“My mom was a teacher, and I grew up loving to learn. I feel blessed to be a part of some pretty amazing students’ lives. I am also grateful for all of the incredible educators that I have worked with-they are truly all about the kids.”
IN MEMORIAM AMANDA REPAY, Nurse, Cardiac Intensive Care Unit, University of Chicago
Amanda experienced great joy in her time as nurse, and loved her job to the fullest. She was able to make a difference in people’s lives by connecting with her patients in meaningful ways and humanizing her role in their care process. Amanda’s memory is one of love, strength and compassion, and has made a lasting impression on those she worked with, family, and friends. URSULA KAZAKOS, Cardiac ICU Nurse, University of Chicago
“I am thankful to have a career that allows me to be myself and connect with people while hopefully making a difference. The best part of my job is when I see the look on my patient’s face when they’ve been told they have a heart donor- its indescribable.”
EVAN JONES, Firefighter, Chesterton Fire Department
“The hardest part of my job is preparing for the unknown. Not every call ends well but It’s always our goal to have the greatest positive impact possible. I do feel privileged to have a career as a firefighter. It’s very gratifying when you can help someone.”
RACHELLE BAKER, Graduation Pathway Coordinator, River Forest High School
“When you work with people, life reveals extremes. Using my voice to advocate on behalf of others fills my heart with joy, even when it’s a sacrifice. Putting others first is a priority.” JOSH BRKOVIC, Police Officer, 15 years
“I knew from childhood what I wanted to do. I went after my goal and never looked back. This job is hard and I will never be able to forget some of the situations I have experienced. But it is a job that I love, and my family, especially my wife, is understanding and supportive; I couldn’t do it without her.”
Two Interpretations
The heritage of Arita porcelain is reflected in the color of the dials, white with a trace of blue, which was the color of the earliest Arita porcelain. The dials, which are made in Arita itself, have the rich texture and depth characteristic of the finest porcelain. This new Presage series comprises two interpretations of the design, both of which are powered by Seiko’s high performance 6R series calibers. The first offers caliber 6R27, with a power reserve indicator at the nine o’clock position and a date indicator at six o’clock. The second offers a new caliber, 6R35, which delivers a power reserve of 70 hours.
