No prizes for guessing that July is proving a pretty busy month all round in clubland. Normally we’d all be applauding that, but this year the summer months will be busy for all the unusual, unprecedented reasons we’re coming to know so well. The results of our annual Club Industry Survey, I’m happy to say, are overwhelmingly positive, with the majority of clubs reporting that lockdown has presented a period – albeit an unwelcome one – to spend time on refurbishments, maintenance and planning. At the same time, clubs have been winning more local hearts, minds and members as they’ve worked tirelessly to help their communities during the pandemic. (Full details of the survey will appear in the next issue.) Meanwhile, back at base, we’ve been equally busy. In response to calls from clubs for latest advice and information, we launched The Club Bulletin, followed swiftly by The Sports Club Bulletin. The twice-a-week news service aims to keep you all up to date with latest legislation as well as who’s doing what to help keep building club business. In this issue, you’ll be able to view all of the back issues, as well as take a look at how fellow clubs around the UK have been responding – flourishing even – to reopening.
