Stage 4 ÂŁ60 million British Land Stages 1-4
Aldgate Place Phase 2 is a mixed-use scheme forming the final par t of the masterplan that redevelops a piece of land near Aldgate East Underground Station. The project consisted of a Nonmaterial amendment to a 25 storey tower changing the use from residential to a private rental sector (PRS) scheme with an adjoining office block and retail at ground level. I was involved in the feasibility study of the tower for its conversion all the way through to coordinating structural and MEP changes that were made throughout the design process. Following a successful planning application my work centred around the stair and lift package for tender, alongside metalwork and floor packages with both drawings and specifications. This process was ver y impor tant as I sat between the internal and external teams for these elements so communication was vital to be successful. This was also managed for the most par t under working from home conditions due to the pandemic.

Hale Whar f is a waterside regeneration project in nor th east London comprising of ten buildings across the masterplan. My earliest involvement was during Stage 3, within Phase 2 of the project, which was producing early tender informat ion for the scheme following its planning approval. This required structural coordination with the wider consultant team, which I led on. Complex refuse and back of house studies were required due to increases in plant requirements on the project. Following on from my Par t III case study where I shadowed the construction work on Hale Whar f Phase 1, I became involved in the compliance monitoring role and witnessed the construction and gained valuable experience on site. This was a ver y helpful process to understand where efficiencies could be made when going for ward to work on Aldgate Place since the same main contractor was engaged.

Lampton Road Phase 2 was a residential masterplan for 750 units developed from an outline masterplan Allies and Morrison had designed. The work involved creating a 3D model from scratch within Revit to produce drawings for a Reser ved Matters Application. I was involved in Lampton Road from the inception of the team and therefore had a wide knowledge base to share as the team grew around me. I took a lead on Block F to take for ward the design development of both unit plans and the facade for which we had regular in -house design reviews with the par tners. Elevati onal composition studies formed the bulk of this work and culminated in producing a full set of plans, elevations and sections for the project to be submitted for planning approval.

I was selected to run a competition for a mixed-use scheme consisting of office, hotel and residential in the hear t of central London on the site of the Royal Ear, Nose and Throat Hospital, Kings Cross. This project allowed me to develop relationshps within the office with par tners I had not previously worked with and orchestrate a small team, including graphics and the model shop to produce a competition-standard entr y. It was a great experience to showcase my organisational skills as well as an oppor tunity to voice my opinion on the design at a conceptual stage.

H+H H+H Fire Fire The Baku Knightbridge masterplan develop ed by Chapman Taylor comprises residential, office and ed ucation. It was designed in a classical style and was created as an outline masterplan with the residential components having been taken for ward for completion earlier. This left the site BAKU BAKU KNIGHTSBRIDGE KNIGHTSBRIDGE for the school which I was tasked with developing the internal strategy for. I developed the model Section CC CC for creating the drawings within Revit to use inSection documentation. It was an oppor tunity for me to get involved in the early planning and design of how the school could function and we enlisted an education consultant alongside the benchmarking of theAs-Built scheme to existing examples, since this Tender // Construction Construction // As-Built For Information Information Tender // For was the first school that Chapman Taylor had designed. As par t of my final year of masters I visited Rwanda, following the discover y through a school design adver tisement online I made contact with a small village called Gahini. The visit enriched my understanding of place and the impor tance this had to the community. I was able to develop a method of construction using locally available materials, including developing a plant-based cement substitute, which the locals could manufacture themselves. The design utilised simple 3D printing techno logy to construct foundations for a catalan vault that formed the springing points for the vaulted roof. These formed clusters of classrooms as par t of an expansion, which created a sunken playground and provided the other key building material; ear th. Development and testing was done in the UK with a facility at Gr ymes Dyke Farm until the prototype was ready. I have maintained contact with the community I met and hope to one day return to develop this scheme for them.

In my first year of masters I under took the urban design specialisation which gave me a great insight into masterplanning developments. Through this studio I had an oppor tunity to travel to Brazil with a group of fellow students to help a local community develop a sustainable masterplanning strategy for densifying the village to enable growth in tourism. My por tion of the masterplan looked at how to propose new additions to the edge of the village nearest the National Park, for which the tourists flocked. The development included using local materials as well as hydroponic s and r ainwater collection to ensure that vast journeys across the countr y were not required for materials to this isolated location. The scale and density of this development was strongly considered and we presented our work to the local community in a public consultation event in the village squ are which was really well received and helped us develop our proposals fur ther upon return to the UK.
