MA SCENOGRAPHY PROJECTS
AGLAIA LITO PAPAGEORGIOU
L’enfant et les sortileges (libretto by Colette, music by Ravel)
I designed set and costume for this opera as part of the second unit of the MA Scenography. I chose to work on the teapot-teacup scene. I designed the set and a (porelain) costume. The set (in the hole play) is a mirror floor with a PVC projection screen on the back. The idea is that each scene will have a different video projected. The reflection of the video is shown on the mirror floor. The performer/s becomes one (mix) with the set. For this specific scene, where the young boy breaks cruelty a teapot and a teacup, I created a porcelain costume for the performer. The performer wears the costume which is constructed by pieces of porcelain. Wearing this costume, the performer dances slow by doing sudden movements. The background video shows a man (the boy) breaking and then trying to put together an actual teapot- teacup. The camera for this video was placed on the floor which represents the child’s position (small/low level).

Embodied memories
In this collaborative project, I/we want to experiment with projections and a human body. Mapping could be used, however, I/we found more interesting to try and blur the frame/ image of the human body by using low tech (comparing to mapping software) video projection and materials. I/we are exploring the possibility of a visually structured event that formulates a different experience of time. By embodying past images I/we seek to create new relations between past and present in order to step out of the comfort and issues produced by linear understanding of time.

Mirror study
In this section there is a collection (three stages) of my research in the thematic area of reflections by using mirrors. I am interested in mirrors and other reflective materials. In terms or reality and illusion, visibility and invisibility and camouflage. Thus,I experimented by creating strange, paranormal figures in a park by using mirror sheets. The mirror sheets sometimes tranform and sometimes hide the human body. After that, I created different part of a mirror costume and study how it interacts with the background. Last, I wanted to see how mirrors interact in space, therefore I made a model box with mirrors (inspired by mirror stairchases). I projected a video in the mirror model box and document the reflections of the installation all around.

Workshops
In this section there is a collection of my artistic and technical work during workshops I attended. There are many different artefacts in each project as well as a range of different techniques and materials used.
